Hi guys, I got this pcb recently and hook it up in my Jamma cab with a Sega to Jamma adaptor. It coins up, I can start the game and select the player, but the only problem is that there is no contact between all the characters. I mean my player can't hit the bad guys and vice versa, no damage to each other at all. Very weird. Any idea what's wrong with it?

Look for missing decoupling caps on the ROM board, there should be a 470uF 16V in each corner, but they often get knocked off, wrenched to one side or crushed. If these are missing then the board can do very very odd things. Have seen a similar fault where the enemies were frozen on the screen but could not be hit.

just an idea, did you also check the dip switches ? I remembered something and took a look into MikesArcade.com for the dip switch settings for golden axe. there is a "Difficulty = Special" option just at the bottom of the description. maybe that special is "no collision detection" ? I haven't tried that on my board, maybe you just verify that (just paste the grid into windows wordpad and use a courier font):

Now, this is a stupid but valuable question....does this have an extra large CPU with a sticker that reads FDxxxx where the xxxx is a string of numbers. If nothing else, this could be the battery backup up CPU failing, barring any other damage. I've had other games on this system do strange things as the battery in this CPU dies a slow death. If your troubleshooting gets nowhere, this could be the problem.

The hardware system (system16b) that Golden Axe runs on is very robust, so look for track damage, reseat the ROM board and individual ROMS.

If the FD CPU is your issue, the code and other hardware can be purchased for about $40 from sega resurrection online. I've used it and he's good.

instead of this

use this
{code} {/code}

Note: use square braces instead of curly braces

Thanks guys, I will give this a try.

Got it working so far, keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks.

This did the trick for my board. Thanks.
