Did you clear the saferam?

Phil

No. I found little info on the 5500 when I googled

Please advise
Thanks

There are two versions of the 5500 Proslot. One requires a clear chip, and the other just requires a jumper on the mpu to be moved. Here is the procedure for machines that don't require clear chips.

There are three types of saferam clear, complete, full, and partial. Complete resets all game meters to zero and sets game options to factory default settings. Full is similar to complete, except that not all bookkeeping meters are cleared. Partial resets electronic bookkeeping meters only, some bookkeeping meters and game options are not affected. I would try the partial first, then a full if that doesn't work, then a complete if that doesn't work.

Here's the procedure:

1. Turn the power off.
2. Open the front door, unlock and remove the MPU board, and move the SAFERAM CLEAR jumper at JW10 to the enable position. On my machine the MPU board slides out and the JW10 jumper location is in the lower right portion of the pcb. The enable position is with a jumper connecting the two pins.
3. Slide the MPU board back into place making sure that the back plugs are firmly seated.

Partial Clear
4. Power up the machine.
5. The message CH P will display on the Win LED. If the clear procedure has been successful, the CH P will be followed by the message CL P on the Win LED. At the same time, the game lights will blink. This is a self check indicating that the clear procedure has been successful. If an error is detected, the CL P will be replaced with E P.
6. If no error was detected, turn the power off, remove the MPU board, move the JW10 jumper to the inactive position (only on one pin), slide the MPU back into place and turn the power on.

Full clear
4. Press and hold the pseudo coin button on the front of the MPU and power up the machine.
5. When the message CH F displays on the Win LED, release the pseudo coin button. If the clear procedure has been successful, the CH F will be followed by the message CL F on the Win LED. At the same time, the game lights will blink. This is a self check indicating that the clear procedure has been successful. If an error is detected, the CL F will be replaced with E F.
6. If no error was detected, turn the power off, remove the MPU board, move the JW10 jumper to the inactive position (only on one pin), slide the MPU back into place and turn the power on.

Complete clear
4. Simultaneouly press and hold the pseudo coin and the Test buttons on the front of the MPU and power up the machine.
5. When the message CH C displays on the Win LED, release the pseudo coin and test buttons. If the clear procedure has been successful, the CH C will be followed by the message CL C on the Win LED. At the same time, the game lights will blink. This is a self check indicating that the clear procedure has been successful. If an error is detected, the CL C will be replaced with E C.
6. If no error was detected, turn the power off, remove the MPU board, move the JW10 jumper to the inactive position (only on one pin), slide the MPU back into place and turn the power on.

Hope this works for you. Let me know how it turns out. I have several manuals for the proslot 5500 if you would like a copy PM me your email and I will forward a pdf.

I had a j11 on bottom corner. Couldn't find a j10 anywhere.

Thanks for all the info

Any more suggestions?

Yours may be the version that needs clear chips.

I can send you a copy of the manual, but I don't have the clear chips. You may be able to track down the chips somewhere else. Somebody else here on the boards might even have them. They are also available here:

but $40 seems a bit steep.
