I have to say a couple things I observed and am thankful to Videotopia for.
First Lunar Lander... *nothing* like I remember playing "back in the day". I have wanted one for a while now but after playing about 10 games today I'm no longer looking. Yeah, I'd take one for $100... don't get me wrong. But I really didn't enjoy it like I thought I would. It was such a personal let down.
Second... Tron. I now remember why we sold ours years ago. After you get to a certain level of play... it's boring. I played my first man for about 30 minutes and then just quit. My son looked horrified when I said that I understood why I got rid of it and wouldn't want another one.
Third... Gorf. Now this one I am still kicking myself for getting rid of. It is an awesome game period. Even when you are in a groove you feel like you could die at any second. Lots of fun and I definitely want to try and get one again(maybe a cabaret this time though). Scored 30,000 on my first game and couldn't wait to play again and then it was time to go so that was that.
Fourth... Space Duel... I WANT ONE!!! I almost had one earlier this year for FREE but it didn't work out with the person at work. I didn't realize what I missed out on until today. Damn fun game.
Fifth... Tempest... I played for a while and to be honest... I can completely understand why I sold ours years ago. Yeah, it's fun... but like Tron you get to a certain level of skill and the game gets a bit boring. NOTE: The Videotopia Tempest has the "40 credit" and "level 81" bugs.
Sixth... Keeping all these games running when you aren't stationed onsite has to be a royal pain in the butt! There were some games that were not working but I'd guestimate the number being right around 10. Red Baron and Food Fight were two that were completely dead. Night Driver depressed me because it looked like it was working and then come to find out only 1st gear worked. Gauntlet's blue player had the "up" contact on the joystick stuck. Eliminator didn't have a functioning thrust button which again stunk because I loved that game BITD and wanted to give it a go. Gravitar's monitor needed some adjusting... enough so that you couldn't really enjoy the game.
Please don't take any of this the wrong way, I/we had a blast and the broken games didn't take away anything from the show in my opinion. Hell... I wanted to open up a couple games to see if they had simple problems. Defender looked to be stuck in test mode. I turned the power off and then back on just to see if it'd clear but it didn't so I'm thinking the test switch was switched on for some reason.
At any rate, it was a long day so I'm off to bed now. I'll work on video and hopefully have something uploaded this weekend.
