So thanks to this great community I get the gift of a lifetime and will be at CAX.

So what is happening those days besides games, games and more games. I saw the previous years there were some cool panels. Any panels this year? Cool uber rare games coming? KLOV meetups? Photo sessions? Any music vids being filmed?

Don't get me wrong, the games are more than enough, I don't want to miss anything...

don't know what panels will be taking place but I'm about 99% sure there will be a full line up of speakers for Saturday as there usually is. Pretty sure there is a pinball tournament as well as a tournament for a few video games. I think Richie knuckles is involved with setting up the video game tournament along with paul dean.

There is usually the KLOV pic midday Saturday I believe. They usually announce this over the PA but you do have to listen for it as many people have missed the announcement due to the volume in the game room.

Can't be certain but you can usually find Mark Apiger (CC foot champion of king of kong)wandering around the show. Sometimes there are other folks from Atari like Al Alcorn or Owen Rubin.

Missile command 2 is supposed to be there this year. Pretty sure that will be the first time ever anywhere since BITD. There is generally a line up of prototypes at the show that are cool to see in person at least once. Most aren't the greatest to play but are still cool to see.

Despite the fact that it's not promoted as the major focus of the show, CAX has brought in a large number of the best pins in the past few years. They really do get an impressive line up of pins these days. Only down side is that the pins get so much attention that unless you hit them early or late you may have to wait in line to get on your favorite game.

Not sure of the progress from nutballchamp but last I heard he was bringing an animatronic show to bring the CEC, rock a fire vibe.

Haven't heard if (Gene) 12 strings will be back at this years show playing game themed melodies on his 12 string bass with Joust inlays on the fret board. He's usually makes it though.

Vendors like Rich (rikitiki) of this old game and Stephen Beal (mylstar) of videogameparts.com are usually there selling their stuff.

Lots of beer consumption in the lobby bar and pool area.

Lots more consumption of beer ...

...and even more.

Oh... and In-n-Out at least 3x in there somewhere.

Great that you can make this. I hope to meet you there!

As a staffer, I can let you know that a full lineup of speakers/seminars is definitely planned. Most will be on Saturday with some possible spill over to Sunday.

A co-staffer is working on finalizing the actual schedule, but I'm authorized to leak out a little information now :) :

1. Crazy Otto will be in attendance! One of the original programmers (Steve Golson) of the "Crazy Otto" modification to Pac Man that eventually came to be Ms. PacMan will on hand to give what should be a very interesting talk on how Mr. Otto came to be. He will also have the original board set on hand with the original Crazy Otto modification that will be set up in a PacMan cabinet for all to play. He will also have a never-before-seen version of Super Missile Attack (he was also the programmer for SMA) set up in a Missile Command cabinet, and some other surprises we're told ;) .

2. Gary Stern (Stern pinball) will on hand to talk about his pinball ventures, trials, and tribulations.

3. Walter Day (Twin Galaxies) is set to pay us a visit with news from the Twin Galaxies front.

4. A panel of pinball luminaries is set to discuss upcoming innovations in the world of pinball...where the industry will/could go from here, what innovations will/might be in the works, etc., etc., to keep pinball alive and strong into the next century.

5. Richie Knuckles Pole Position contest.

6. Pinball tournaments (of course!)

7. Raffle prizes (a new Stern AC/DC pinball will be the grand prize!)

8. Return of the classic arcade-themed bands. We're still working on the actual lineup for these, but I'm told the music will be happening again!

9. Not sure which ones, but you can bet some of the old Atari folks will be roaming around.

Other surprises are being worked on, too, that I can't yet mention...one in particular should be quite interesting if it comes to pass. And I'll leave it at that...

See y'all at the show!

Jon

Dan you know I love you and I think you are the best, but Jean is 11strings on here. :)

I can't tell you how glad and lucky I am to be able to make it! I can tell you there will be lots of hand shakes and man hugs to go around. I don't wan to miss anyone.

I know Steve from working with ACAM. He told me this little nugget of info while at PAX-East this year. I so wanted to spill the beans when the thread about the origins of Ms. Pac was going on. So much miss information I can't wait for Steve to set the record straight.

2. Gary Stern (Stern pinball) will on hand to talk about his pinball ventures, trials, and tribulations.

Will want to catch this. Will be interesting to see what is coming next

3. Walter Day (Twin Galaxies) is set to pay us a visit with news from the Twin Galaxies front.

Again will love to catch the pinball pannel

I hope to get to play the AC/DC . Been wanting to for a while. Don't know about winning it. I don't think they'll accept it as a carry on :D
