Going to be driving 14rs each way to get an original DK

Those pics look great. Good score!

You would be correct sir. Haha

Have a fun trip...the adventure is sometimes more valuable than the objective. ;)

Farthest I've gone was 3 hours each way and that was for a game that wasn't even mine, but to pick up a friends first pin. Good excuse to hang out and got to talk games all day and even got an amazing deli recommendation for lunch from the seller after we all played some games at his place before we left. It's like a road trip with an arcade bonus at the end ha.

Did I just lose my mind?

I'm leaving in a few hours to drive 14hrs to grab a original Donkey Kong....

I think this arcade thing has hit me hard.

Anyone else have crazy "I drove XXXX miles" stories?
No doubt... Ship. 14hrs.. wow. 3 one way is my limit.

hmmmm ... looks decent, although that sideart is destroyed and the inside is a little too dusty ...

now ... you're new to the community, so i'm gonna be generous with my offer as a welcome to you. please don't tell the others about this deal i'm cutting you.

i'll give you ... $50

Lol, nice. Thanks for your generous offer but I'll pass for now.....

I would have shipped but after going to his house...no way this would have worked...off a dirt road in a remote Denver suburb...no trucking would have ever been able to make this happen....

My first arcade deal, 25 years ago or so?, was driving a moving van from Ottawa On Canada to RTP Durham North Carolina to pick up 6 or more Vectors (Asteroids, BZ, AA upright, AA cocktail, Asteroids Deluxe and others, I forget ...). I had to travel to RTP for work purposes, and my boss let me drive instead of flying. :) Slept in the van too on the way back between the games with them looking down at me ... LOL

Total one way was 13hrs. More than 1300km (>800 mi) one way.

Cool trip. Was worth it. (Would do it again too ...) LOL

OP, what was your route? From where to where?

My route is from Yucaipa, CA (SoCal) to Golden, CO. I think it's 990 miles each way... :004_scool:

$1400 for the game
$250 fuel
$200 for food and hotel
$167 for Colorado Highway Patrol escort when I left town....

1. Nice pickup, great adventure, congratulations!

2. Some will undoubtedly give you a hard time for the cumulative $2,017 price tag for a DK pickup. Pay them no mind. I've paid more than I should have for some games, but if you're getting what you want, when it's available to you, and YOU are happy with your purchase, then all is well. : )

Inspired ...
I hate cops ... got a stupid ticket last weekend too. "dirty license plate" LOL ... fracker ...

Just brought my DK project into the house so I can work on it this winter.
When all is said and done, my DK restore (with DK/DKJr/DK3 multi) will cost something similar to yours. Pricey, but it will be cool.

Enjoy the game. Remember the adventure. Pay (or fight) your ticket. :)

Well.....WE GOT IT! :)

Game was as advertised. All original. The seller was the original owner who bought it in 1982. The only issue is the sticker art is peeling due to age but that is an easy fix. Got the original keys, manual, invoice and the cab is is amazing shape. He said he was partners on an arcade back in the day and the game was only used for 3 months and has been sitting in his house ever since. Game fired right up and the screen looks sharp as hell.

I'll post pics later tomorrow after we get back to SoCal. Son and I just pulled into Grand Junction for the night....it's been a long day...

PS: here are some teaser pics I got from the seller...

Looks great....
