Going to be driving 14rs each way to get an original DK

Did I just lose my mind?

I'm leaving in a few hours to drive 14hrs to grab a original Donkey Kong....

I think this arcade thing has hit me hard.

Anyone else have crazy "I drove XXXX miles" stories?

Why not ship? Certainly cheaper than gas and hotel, no?

Dont trust the shipper not to damage...and to have an adventure with my oldest son. He's 17yrs and will be out of the house soon. Will be some good Dad & Son time. :)

I drove from Denver to Wisconsin for a red DK when I first started....no you're not crazy....you're just beginning.

lol

you must really like DK.

All original and in working order....oh ya.

But apparently not enough to troop build them ;)

I'm not even sure what that means but I guessing there is another level of crazy? :001_sbiggrin:

You would be correct sir. Haha

Have a fun trip...the adventure is sometimes more valuable than the objective. ;)

Craziest one I did was from South SF to Los Angeles and back in less than a day.

I did Riverside to San Jose and back a couple weekends ago for a cab. 14 hours and change total I think it was. Not a bad drive at all.

I've done Riverside to Denver and back, 990 miles each way in a four day weekend. Never again.

Most I've done is 8 hours round trip... 14 hours one way... that is some next level dedication!

I hope it's really cheap at least lol

Document the trip on video and share with us. Make a memorable trip and have fun. Take pics and dream about DK.

Once you have the game home safely you will be happy.

Crazy hobby, yes, but it's a hobby nonetheless.

:D

We drove from Chandler, AZ to Bakersfield CA for a championship sprint... but picked up a kangaroo on the way back in Anaheim at the captain's auction... So I guess the trip was worth it :)

I think I did about 10 hours round trip for my first DK. There were three of us so it was fun. I got to hear the seller say "Dunkey Kong" a lot. I bet somebody can guess who it was.

a couple things ...

* awesome, DK is a great game and a arcade road trip can be fun
* DK is a semi-common (BUT very desirable) game ... while you'll have to be a bit aggressive to find one, my hunch is that if you waited long enough you'd absolutely find one closer to home
* to the point others have made, I hope this is a "done deal" (in the sense that the seller is holding it FOR YOU and will not budge from that)

travel safe, and take lots of pics

I'm sure I might find a closer one if I waited but who knows how long that would be ...

This one is in mint original condition with a motivated seller so I'm confident it's a good pick up.

I'll post pics once I get DK home. :D

Just did a 4.5hr each way, 12hr road trip day w/the kid, and snagged a great DK Jr.

Cab is great, time with kid is what it's about.
