I'm betting this has been asked a million times before but I couldn't find an answer. I'v got a Defender harness that has V and H sync out. I'm going to a monitor that has just 1 sync in. Do I use the H-sync? If so, why?

Thanks for the help!

if your going to negative composite sync than you combine the vert and the negative horz sync to that one sync.

This is not widely documented.

Modify the CPU board to output negative Csync. This is easily achieved by removing link W1
from the CPU board. W1 is not so much of a link though as the schematics might suggest but a
track on the PCB. There are holes on the PCB each side of the track though so you can easily
reverse the modification by fitting a wire link or zero ohm resistor to bridge the gap. The two
photos below show where you need to cut on later series Defender boards and Stargate and later
games boards.

Trace cut worked like a charm!

Thanks for the amazing tip!

I would solder a piece of header and use a computer plastic cmos reset jumper to enable or disable the mod.

Also this was info from a website that has a lot of info on williams boards.

Here is a link to the pdf from his site.

Love to be able to claim it, but that guy did a massive amount of work writing up everything and deserves credit.
