I think the whole charm of the original was that it was real. A documentary.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about some fake-ass version of this movie and I collect arcade games. Flop predicted.

Can't wait to pirate it via torrent to lulz @ the inevitable car chase and/or fist fight they add. Assuming it ever comes out - I can see Billy Mitchell blocking its release when Reeves plays the role to make him out to be even more of a self-lauding clown shoe than he already is (if that is possible).

EDIT: Ok this is a joke then? The font on the Yahoo! story doesn't look quite right now that you say that...

The fanatical fan element for The King of Kong is driving some people who haven't seen it yet away from seeing it a first time. I guess that's ultimately on them, but it's too bad, `cause I think it appeals to a wide audience.

The parodies, the fights, the response flicks, the general "not letting it go"...blah. It was a fun little movie, but now it's been turned into Dork Citizen Kane.
