Still looking for a Q*bert wiring harness, If someone will make me one i'll pay right away with PayPal and pay more than fair price.

thanks,

You should try and make one. Pretty sure you can buy everything from Bob Roberts you would need. Wire lengths for many colors, edge connectors for your PCB with pins for your wire, zip ties, everything. Just get down with your schematic and run your wires throughout the cab loose, then try to bundle them to the factory hanger locations (look for staples) and mount to them. Before you know it, you'll have a custom tailored harness! :)

Finding the 60 pin edge connector for the board is just about impossible. I had to cut a couple of 22/44 pin connectors and epoxy them together to make one.

Who is it that makes the really cool harnesses? Is it Dokert?

I remember a few threads recently about his Williams harnesses.

Maybe give him a PM? Good luck!

Dokert does make harnesses. I'd give him a message. He's pretty helpful, so even if he doesn't, he'll point you in some direction.

Is that one or two sided? Is it 2x30 pins, or 1x60, or 2x60? Let me know and I'll check my local shop for ya.

The edge connector is going to be a problem. You can make one relatively easily by splicing a couple together.

It's 2x30, .156" spacing. The digi-key link looks like the right one, although I could have sworn they did not have them before.

No, Digikey didnt have this last time I was looking for them. In fact, I couldnt find them anywhere. I ended up getting one from a hacked harness.

A jamma harness wont do you much good, qbert is a unique harness. You will also need the edge connector for the sound board. That one should be easy to find.

I think if it were me, I'd simply email Bob Robertson and ask him if he'd make me one.
"If Dokert is too busy/ what have you"

I might be able to buy that locally. I'll check tomorrow and report back here.

Ouch. Yeah, the digikey part is expensive. If I find one it should be less than $10. Probably around $5. Oh yeah. Do you want through hole pins or solder eyes? (I assume solder eyes)

Use a 36/72 like the one on eight liners - it will fit as is - I pulled the unused contacts out and you can key it. Bob Roberts and others have these. I used them when I built my Gottlieb jamma adapters. Here is a link to a pic from Bob Robert's site:

Regarding wiring the Qbert Cabinet - IMHO:

If you are a purist, you could build all of the cable assemblies and duplicate the internals of the qbert game. It will be a lot of work and you also inherit the weaknesses of the system design (and generate a lot of heat).

If not, why not use a Jamma harness with switcher(s) and a Qbert to Jamma adapter? I think this may require less effort and be much more reliable electrically as the original Qbert power system left much to be desired. All of the wires will be labeled and your chances of wiring errors will be minimized. You can test your adapter on an existing jamma setup. A Qbert to jamma adapter is well-documented.

Why would the pre-bundled multicoloured wire from a jamma harness not work? (with the jamma edge connector replaced with the 60-pin using the correct Q*bert pinout of course) I've never seen the Q*bert wiring, what makes it unique?

Here's a 24-pin for the sound board: ($4)

OP, where in Canada are you located?

what makes the qbert wiring unique is the 400 wires that are going everywhere.

Hi guys lots of idea, i am not sure i have the ability to do wiring so probably won't attempt that. I can't believe how hard it is to wiring a Q*bet, crazy! LOL

I am located in Terrace, B.C. (Hockeyville)

Thanks everyone

Ok....just got back from the parts store. They have the following options:

(.156" 2x30 contacts)
- contacts and solder eyes, all gold plated - $1.96 ea
- contacts and solder eyes, not gold plated - $1.96 ea
- contacts and through-hole pins, not gold plated = $2.25 ea

Let me know if you want me to pick some up for you.
