GO7 Rebuild Issue

Good question. The Galaxian already had a GO7 in it, and there was a little adapter card that converted the pinout from WG to Electrohome. I'll check...

The Galaxian board puts out composite negative sync. The little adapter card applies sync to both of the negative sync inputs on the monitor. I didn't change anything on the wiring from stock.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep playing with it.

Here you go. This Galaxian is a 19XXX numbered game, so it seems that they changed from WG to GO7 at some point, and used this adapter to change from WG pinout to GO7.

The GO7 in the cabinet still has the original Midway sticker on the front, so I think it's the original monitor...

I have another game taken apart that I can test this monitor in, so I'll see if I have the same sync issue.

Here's the thing: G07 and WG pinouts are the same. I have no idea what that card is for, but you can see the colors don't even go to the same place.

Galaxian has composite negative sync, so it should be:

R G B Gr +VS +HS

Gr -VS -HS

So hook up the colors accordingly, and the sync connect to both negative sync pins.

I couldn't wait to check. You all were correct, using the correct negative syncs did correct the issue. The strange GO7 in the Galaxian needs a new flyback. When i replace that, I'll test out the little adapter card, to verify that the pinout is different between the two monitors.

Ah, thanks. I didn't realize there was different models! I've owned many games, and this is the first one I've run across.

Can a HOT for a CB0 be used on a CA0?

Yes, but if its working there's no need to replace it. The fly is also compatible.

You have either a G07-CAO or G07-CFO. The pinout on them is still similar to the WG, except this model doesn't accept negative sync; it's positive sync only.

R G B G +VS +HS

I've found that sometimes you have to tie the two syncs together to make composite.

The WG4500 and early WG4600's used that pinout....then the industry developed a "standard".

The chassis looks to have had some work done to it, cap kit and new flyback, but F901 is blown, so I was going to replace the HOT, and possibly the flyback again. I hadn't looked up the datasheets for the HOTs, was hoping they were compatible with each other.
