my super pacman has intemittent hv shut down. evrytime i pull the cab out to test it , she powers up fine. tested it this time and the B+ was 156.power down then back up again and it was back to 120 and working fine .... comments, suggestions?

Since i've worked on close to 2000 of these things (and i'm not kidding) i'm pretty confident this is where your problem lies. If you're gonna cap it, spend the extra money for a new fly or go the full monty and buy a deluxe rebuild kit. Just as important will be spending the time to reflow the many cracked solder joints these things now have.

thanks for the input, i always have a go7 cap kit standing by. i will start with that and order a flyback.

Monitor Fix

Had a problem like this. Monitor would run fine and the voltage would fluctuate. Turned out to be a bad B+ pot. Changed it and never did it again after adjustment!

make sure you test it out of circuit. unsolder and lift one leg, then meter it.

I personally replace it anyway during a rebuild, since it's a high-failure item. It's a nine cent part, and takes seconds to replace. It comes standard with my G07-CBO cap kits.
