So, what kind of glue or (for less of a better word) slop.... do you guys use to coat a fragile solder bead to a lead?

Anyone use plain old Hot glue gun?

For what purpose? If I solder a wire to a switch lug, for instance, and I'm worried about something shorting to it, I use heat shrink, although there ARE plastic slip-ons the are made for that, too...

For what purpose?

this would be to cover solder beads which connect bare wire to gamepad leads. Was thinking glue would coat the bead and keep it from ever pulling from the pad. Here's a pic of something similar.

I see. Well, I don't cover it with anything. Glue or epoxy just makes it an incredible pain in the ass if you ever have to go back and replace or repair it. If you're worried about it bumping up against something, get a mica or other non-conductive insulator (like the cardboard on the back of a neckboard) on there...

Last time I tried protecting my leads in this way, I just slapped the soldered gamepads into generic, plastic VHS boxes. Never had a problem. Probably just do it again. Just thought I'd ask.

A strain relief would work better. You could tie the wires in two places with small cable ties. Athough the wires might need to be a bit longer.

"goop" glue works great and is a lil stronger then hot glue and can be peeled back off someday the same way hot glue can..
