Anyone get to try this yet? I spent a couple hours playing the deluxe 42" monitor version. This could have been a pretty cool game, but Global VR must have put a garbage computer in it. The frame rate is so low that it actually hurts game play by lagging the control input. Feels like it hovers in the low 20's and dips below that when there is a lot of stuff on screen.

Probably less than a $100 difference on a better video card would have improved this game immeasurably.

ive played the 2 player deluxe sitdown at cec

and i thought it was the best driver ive ever played it is def on my radar

I wonder if thats the same one I played at D&B. We noticed one cab had some lag while the other (mine hehehe) worked fine. Could be a failing fan on the video card, OR maybe they actually have different vid cards. If its PC based I"ll bet it can be upgraded if the GPU stays in the family (Nvidia, ATI, etc).

I played a standalone, its good to hear something might have been wrong with that specific machine. Maybe I should have CNTRL/ALT/DEL'd it to see if someone was using it to download porn while I was playing!

They were originally using an off the shelf Nvidia 7600GS.

I played this at a trade show, I want to play it online since that's what it was made for but so few places bother to put their games online I doubt I'll ever get the chance.

I didn't notice slowdown in the early version - it has updated graphics over the first version so they are probably using a more recent graphics card. Blazing Angels from 2008 uses an nVidia 9800GT.

Played the first Global VR Nascar game and you are absolutely right... the frame rate is embarrassing. You feel like the car is floating around the track and there is virtually no feeling of speed.

To think Sega achieved a flawless frame rate with Daytona USA and Sega Rally when 3D graphics were brand new is almost mind boggling when you see how this modern game can barely process the menu screen.

The number of polygons used on the newer games, combined with the texture mapping and the higher resolution modes takes a LOT more processing power than what is required for a game like Daytona. Of course, Sega did everything that they could to maintain a high frame rate, as they know what a difference it makes in the experience.

I recenly played one of these with my son, and didn't notice any slowdown issues. I thought that the power meter and boosting really added an interesting new dimension to the game. Without it, it would have been as boring as the older Sega Nascar game.

Speaking of Nascar, did any of you guys see the new South Park this week? They REALLY stuck it to Nascar...

Here is some video I took of NASCAR Team Racing at Amusement Expo in March. This is from the pre-release version of the game which came out a couple of months later, so I'm not sure what they might have changed between this and June. If there are any problems with the game, it's not the framerate. But who knows, if you play it online there could be lag depending upon the connection being used.

Sorry about the voice being overpowered by the noise from the rest of the show.

That is way smoother than the one I played. I'd have no complaints about that at all. It seems like a machine issue, but also must be a common problem since others have noticed it.
