I am fixing up a machine that seems to have some kind of film or stain on the inside of the glass. I have tried all I can think of to remove it.. I know for sure its not paint.. HOW can I get rid of this film... ( pix attached.. )

Here is what I have tried already and has not worked..

Razor blade..
Bleach..
Magic Eraser..
CLR
Glass Cleaner
LCD Screen cleaner

Far short of taking a hammer to it, I'm at a loss...

Thanks

It's probably nicotine/ tar buildup from being in a smoking environment . I would stay away from a magic eraser as that is essentially sanding the glass. Try isopropyl alcohol a paper towel. Will take down elbow grease but just try it in a corner or non visible spot first to see how it goes

I will give that a whirl.. I don't have much to loose lol.. It may be more gratifying to take the hammer to it and buy a new glass though...

Lol, did you really use bleach on it?
And what loss? Try some zippo lighter fluid first.
or just measure the piece.. go to a shop and have them cut you a brand
new piece of plexi glass.
I think even lowes sells plexiglass.

I would rather have the glass thats there.. and yes I tried bleach lol.. hmm good idea, lighter fluid and set it on fire ?? :)

if a razor blade wont remove it , i think it's etched from some type of a cleaner used on it. you need to polish it with tin oxide and a wool pad ( on a drill or polisher) any granite / countertop supply will have this.

Denatured alcohol and (believe it or not) coffee filters. They seem to be a little bit more abrasive than paper towels, but not enough to damage the surface. You have to work quickly though...the alcohol evaporates almost as soon as you pour it.
