Giving pinball a face lift.

Now this is cool!!!!

Wonder what the price point will be?

I think this might finally make me pull the trigger on a p-roc board. Well, owning a DMD pin would help too.

They need to get rid of DMD altogether and go back to electromechanical score reels.

I agree!! Look my kid love the reels and the sounds. He threw a nice 100,000+ game man he loved the knocker sound.

while i do love the newer pins,my introduction to pins was with my dad playing em's.i still love them and plan on getting a couple. imo the sounds of an em pin are like great music.

Real pinball machines do not talk, have background music, digital displays, or circuit boards.

lol. i feel ya. IMO, there will always be a spot in the hearts of pinball collectors for the old EM games. i hope to always have one in my collection.

but pinball had to evolve. the DMD games are some of the best out there.....i hope we continue to see them produced.

I haven't had a lot of experience with EM's, but in general, any time I've played one I've been bored to tears. I am really tempted to pick up an Eros One cocktail. They seem to be available here all the time for cheap. I know it's not really an EM, but it's got the chimes/bells going on and I think it sounds pretty cool.

My preference will always be for 'deep' games, so not really sure EM's are ever going to hold my interest for more than 20 minutes. If someone's got some good suggestions, I'd give a few a run on emulator for laughs.

These things look fucking great, my only question is why even bother with a DMD, why not just got LCD?

Is it to keep the feel of the old DMD's or is there a deeper reason?

It is LCD. From the site's FAQ:

"The display used in the video is a consumer-grade LCD driven by off-the-shelf development boards and a few hardware hacks."

Guess I should have read through..... Thanks.

Easy to miss, it is kind of buried in the FAQ, and it certainly looks like a DMD for a lot of the animations. I first realized it wasn't a DMD when I watched the Youtube video in HD. Towards the end you can see that some of the animations aren't individual DMD pixels.

Guess I'm guilty as well, thought it was DMD also thanks for clarification.

Bringing back EM machines? since we're on a mission to destroy what's left of the industry how about we break out the Apple Macintosh systems with 5.25 inch floppy disks that have the game Oregon Trail or Lemonade Stand on it. That'll surely save pinball and arcades.
I can only imagine the awesomeness that place would be.
