gilligan's island - ramp drops during solenoid test but not during gameplay

quick update....retested the voltage:

- it's getting voltage up to the relay....tested the quick connect little thingy that plugs directly into the board where the relay is soldered and it seems ok.

would this indicate that the relay and/or island motor were bad? i realize it could be both, but i'm inclined to take the $15 repair route first.

My Gilligan did the SAME thing.
It turned out to be the solenoid that was suppose to unlock the island was not firing.
The ramp couldn't drop until the island was unlocked and ready to move via the motor..

I didn't read all 3 pages of this post, so forgive me if this was covered.

Good luck.

Dan

thanks for the reply, dan...

i tested the island lock and it appears to be working 100% (in test mode). i'm really thinking that i have a problem with the motor to the island....whether that's the motor itself or the relay that i just ordered (crosses fingers, lol) remains to be seen.

hopefully i'll get the relay in by tuesday and can get to work on it by wednesday at the latest.....i'll report back if i actually fix the darn thing. :)

cold solder joints on the back of that connector ?

check that connector out. could be bad pin inside there or sometimes just un-connecting it and re-connecting it can "clean" the pins.

oxidation in there ? i just replace the pins. what the hell

thanks for the suggestion....i tested the continuity on that little board and everything seemed ok.

i might mess with it some more this afternoon....had a busy week and didn't get a chance to get to it.
