alright, so it's happened to all of us especially with monitors. but have you ever gotten shocked by a coin mech or a control panel? i have two games that mildly shock me just when i touch the coin mech or the metal control panel (even the screw tops shock me!). what could be causing that and whats the fix? i assume a bad ground or something?

you guys have any funny stories of getting shocked?

Happens mainly in Midway games.
Ensure that the ground straps are in place for the machine.
And no, it's never happened to me...;)

ground straps...

ones a data east and the other is a capcom.

ground straps? i think ive seen some type of strap on my mario bros when i stripped it to restore it...can you explain them a little better? pic? thanks.

#1 - check for a 3 prong plug. If the ground pin has been removed or cut off, replace that plug.

#2 - with the machine unplugged, test for continuity between the ground pin on the power cord and the exposed metal pieces (control panel, etc.). Pay particular attention to the places you have been getting shocks.

#3 - don't play your game while stading inwater :) The water is not good for the cabinet.

#4 - make sure the hot/neutral or hot/ground wires aren't reversed.

#5 - make sure the outlet is wired correctly. You can buy testers at Home Depot for that.
