Getting that clean straight edge

So I had the idea of getting a sheet of thin lexan, cutting it into strips about 2 inches wide and tacking it around the edge of the cab to make a lip all the way around. Then i was able to spread on the bondo and use the lexan to help make the nice straight edges. So far it has turned out great and all i have to do now is let it dry and then sand it down.

I just wanted to let yall know how i did it and maybe get some other ideas of what yall do to get the straight edge all the way around the cab.
 
I just used a couple shims I had in the garage, and i filled some small corner dings using the old t-molding and wiped over.
