Just wondering if anyone ever bought a game and realized that it would not fit through the door. What did you do? Did you take it apart? Did you remove the door and frame?????????

Pulled the door from the frame, then disassembled part of the game.

Yep pulled the door off and removed the frame. Taking the game apart would have not done anything to maked it smaller Uboat is just that wide in the back.

I've had 2 games that this was an issue.

First was a Primal Rage cab with a 33" (I believe) monitor that I used to have. I obviously didn't want it for the pcb that was in it but was planning on making it my multi-horizontal jamma cab. Anyways, drove three hours roundtrip to get it without ever stopping to think that it might not fit through the three doorways I need to get it through. Yeah... it was about an inch and a half too big. This cab was huge. Fortunately I was able to call up a local buddy and he traded me straight up for a nice 25" cab. We both felt like we came out of the deal okay and I was able to get that one in the house.

Second was the Vs. Dualsystem cab I used to have. I knew this one might be trouble because it's obviously not going inside front-to-back like any normal cab. I found the only way to get the cab in the house was to completely disassemble the control panel section. Even with that off I had to take off the 2 regular doors and 2 storm doors, the door latches for the storm doors, and the weather stripping that cut off air flow for the main back door of my house... and with all that I still rubbed the front point of the cab when going through the doorways. But I got the cab downstairs, reassembled the control panel with a bunch of L-brackets, and there is sat until just this last Sunday when I sold it.

Needless to say, after the first cab that was too big I learned to always ask what the width of the cab is before driving to go pick a new game up.

I usually check ggdb.com for dimensions when I'm considering picking up a game. I haven't had any problems getting games through a door, but I have had close calls getting games in my vehicle.

I bought a 33 inches showcase cab from a local guy. The arcade gods were good and made it that we could split the cab in two and actually detach the control panel part of the cab.

Then, the monitor part was too big and way too heavy for two guys. we had to open up the monitor part, take out the huge monitor, carry inside the monitor, control panel half and the monitor part inside. It took us like a good 45 minutes, on an ultra hot day.

this is what it looks like (not my picture): http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/d/ddilday13/mamestrosity.jpg

I do this knowing that my doorway with door removed, is 30". Before driving 4+ hours to get my Final Lap 2, I asked for the same, to have it measured before we made a deal. Well, it was measured in the wrong places, and the main cab is 1 1/8" too big to get through. Now I'm waiting on a buddy to make time to get over here and help with removing the door frame, just for that little extra bit of space. Even when you try to be covered, sometimes it still doesn't work out. The game will eventually make it inside, lol.

I've had to remove the door and frame to fit a 6 player X-Men (which was already broken down but the monitor section is still huge) and Cruisn' USA. In fact I had to open up one section of the stairway wall to allow X-Men to make the turn at the bottom. Hopefully the Star Wars Trilogy I just got last week will go a little easier. :D

I basically had to shoe horn Rush The Rock through my front door. The green front housing is about an 1/8th of an inch too wide, but we pushed hard enough to get it through... lol :D

My indoor hall and stairs is too hard for the large games.
So I clean the cabinet out of all parts and lift...
The added benefit is all the years of grime can be cleaned out during this stage also!
Sure makes it harder for me to think of selling or buying a game though!!

One of my gameroom doors is 18' wide... if I get a game that won't fit... I have some serious issues.

That is pretty funny! Wouldn't it be easier to install a door???

I just recently had to remove part of my doorframe in my spare bedreem to get my Rampage into my 'arcade'...

Rampage is 29" wide.

Door (House built in the 50s) was 28.875" wide. Ugh.

So after lengthy careful-removal of the molding, me and a buddy were able to just squeeze it in there...

I've told the future wifey that when we buy a house, there better be a lot of wide hallways and doors because that's a deal breaker if it doesn't.

Gauntlet Dark Legacy. Had to take the control panel off to make it through the front door. I'll have to do the same with the Simpsons, but at least I know what is coming.

Yep. I have to take the monitor and steering wheels off my Super Sprint to get it through any standard door.
