who dunnit.

probably going to pick it up thursday or friday. it's in great shape...shopped out completely (rebuilt flippers, new coil sleeves, rubber kit, cleaned/waxed, etc).

i can't wait to play it. i'll post pics when i get it home.

what are the forum thoughts on this pin? i know it's not "ranked" near the top or anything, but i've always heard good things about it...

It's a Williams - bonus #1
It's a title made by someone that you don't already have one of their games in your collection - bonus #2

I've never personally played this title. I guess speaking from experience and said with love ... seeing your current pin titles, I can see you ending up in the same boat I am now. You've got a line up of pins that are fairly light in the challenging dept. and when you can step up to any one of them and beat the pants off of it the allure and luster of the machine will fade and you will become bored of your collection. don;t get me wrong not every game has to be mind numbingly challenging as it's always nice to have a "good long enjoyable" game but when you have a "good long enjoyable" on every pin .... hopefully you get the point. Congrats on the new game!

no, i get what you're saying.

star wars was (is) my ultimate pin-grail. it will never leave my collection, unless i'm upgrading to a nicer specimen.

i really like JP a lot...it's not uber-challenging, but there's a decent amount of stuff to do. and my kids love it, which is a plus. it's possible that it'll leave my collection one day, but i doubt it...wife is paying to have someone professionally shop it for my christmas present this year, which i'm excited about.

i could see me getting rid of gilligan and going for a better pin at some point in the future...i like the theme, but it's probably the least "deep" pinball of the DMD era. but i'll tell ya, it gets more play from random guests than either of my other two pins....people just love the theme/sounds. it's in really great shape too, which helps (HUO).

i think who dunnit will be a nice addition......no idea if it's a long term keeper or not though. i'll have to spend some time with it before i make that determination.

my next obsession is getting a NIB stern...lord of the rings, pirates, or maybe simpsons. i just don't know how long it's gonna take to convince the wifey to drop $4K+ on a pin. :)

I want a LOTR. The wife and I both enjoy TAF and LOTR. As someone pointed out to me I already have enough Lawlor titles and getting TAF would be too similar to the others and I think that was really a good point. We want something different but the price tag that LOTR, POTC and TSPP carries is really hard to justify especially in a downed economy like this. Might have to start donating plasma ;)
Anyways congrats again on your new purchase. Having a family enthuised about pinball is just plain awesome!

I just got my Who Dunnit back last weekend from being totally shopped. Totally underrated game, I will never get rid of it. Now I have to get back to playing it :)

what's your pin lineup like? didn't see anything in your sig.

My small and humble line up is:
Funhouse
World Cup Soccer 94
Whirlwind
In fav to least fav order.

I've beaten all of these so many times it's ridiculous. They're still fun to me but I need more of a challenge than trying to beat my high score. Funhouse is a keeper and WCS94 is also a keeper as it's HUO and I'd be hard pressed to find one as nice as this one is. Whirlwind .... meh. It's certainly a teeth grinder ... but to me not in a good way. Just not my cup of tea. The wife likes it and is starting to play it more. Guess I'm stuck with that one for awhile. Hoping she'll eventually lose interest :p

Congrats on the new pick up. I'll touch on the new stern issue, also. I freakin' love my TSPP. I bought it NIB in 2004. It will be the absolute last thing to leave my gameroom if something crazy forced me to downsize. Having said that, I won't be buying any other NIB sterns unless they go on close out (which doesn't really happen) I can't see paying 4500+ for one. NIB Spidey's are 4900 plus shipping from most distributors. No way. I would definitely recommend TSPP or Spidey (I stayed on this one alot at the PHOF), but get a nice used example and save a bunch of money.

i hear ya....there was a fantastic example of POTC at the last auction i was at. it looked brand new...i found out later it was only a few months old. it wound up going for $3600. if i was in a position to buy a NIB pin then, i would have gladly jumped on that POTC. it was beautiful....but i don't know how often those come along.

When it comes to more "modern" games I really like Who Dunnit and Attack from Mars. I think those would be my choices for a pinball collection when it comes to later machines.

Hope the new game plays great for you.

just got back from picking up my who dunnit.....man, this thing looks even better than i had hoped. it's beautiful.

i'll try and post pics tonight, but more than likely it'll be tomorrow before i get around to it.....gotta watch the cocks tonight.....football season is here! :)

for now, here's two shitty camera phone pics i snapped of it in the back of the truck:

Looks really nice. Pretty clean looking.

Not to rain on your parade, but do you have the big spyglass that goes in the lower right (around the slingshot)? I guess it's a plastic.

lol...no worries, dude. i didn't even notice it until i got home with it, to be honest...i was blown away by how good the rest of the playfield looked.

i assume it's a plastic as well....and no, it is not present on my machine. i guess i'll have to try to track one down eventually....not a real big deal to me, but it would be nice to have.

For some reason it was the first thing I noticed, but I was looking at pictures of the Who Dunnit playfield recently. It seems weird that it would just be gone though.

Man i love that game. That center ramp that you shoot and it just flips up. So smooth and sweet. Just one of those really great feeling shots.

i took a closer look....it actually appears to be a part of the outlane diverter plastic....looks like it's part of the top and just hangs over the playfield. it broke off at some point.

i'll replace it eventually. thanks for the heads up.
