I'm looking at a game weighing 425 pounds, and I'm not able to think of a good way to get it off of the pickup, though I know others here have done it. It's just not feasible to slide it out the back and let it do what'll it'll do... is there any trick to this?

Really that is only a 2 man job, I can do that solo if I have too, but I am a big dude (325 lbs).

I solo loaded a 27" Incredible Technologies cabinet the other day, and loading is always harder than unloading. Of course my hardest ever solo anything was getting a 4 player 25" standing island cocktail off a truck by myself.

And yeah, what game, if it is an upright it really won't be that hard.

Controlled drop. Start sliding it off the back of the truck until you get to the point where it wants to teeter if you go any further. Then you get on one side, a buddy on the other. Slowly start teetering the game off the tailgate while its sliding down toward the ground. This is assuming you have an upright cab. Other option is to open the tailgate and accelerate as fast as you can.

I know someone who claims to have pushed a edot off his truck and let it drop on to a matress with no damage.

What are you trying to unload? Can't think of many games that you could not use leverage to get it down/slide it on its back.

What about taking it apart? Pull a monitor, control panel and back door and that could drop 150 lbs and you might have some more grab points.

rent a truck with a liftgate.

buy one of these:

Man i must be a f'n giant wrestling 400lb mortal kombat 2 style cabs out of trucks..

kidding aside, honestly mk cabs run 400+lbs (no joke look at the mk2 flier) it's all about leverage, having a 2nd person can also help (just to make sure nothing gets damaged (including yourself).

also telling us what game it is might help.

btw i'm 5'11" and 180lbs (tall drink of water)

DNS tauhght me a little trick. Use a big sheet of cardboard underneath the game. It will slide better and help prevent damage while sliding. I would try to use 2 people.

Depends on the shape of the game... If you can lay the game on its back while loading it, its not that difficult to slide it back on the tailgate, find the balance point, then tip it down onto its rear feet on the ground.

I know a couple of 300 pound fat-asses that can barely lift a case of beer. Body weight means nothing in this discussion. Its all about leverage. ;)

Leverage is key as it's been said and beat to hell in the thread already. It took two of us to unload 2 different Cruis'n World deluxe cabs. Luckily the previous owner had put 4 wheels on the bottom of each of them making life easy as hell to roll them around in the garage.

If you lay the machine flat when you get it, it will be easier to unload later. I've unloaded the last few machines at my house by myself. I'm 5'7" and 145lbs. Probably less at the time. I brought back most machines in my Honda Odessey. The worse one was 6 slot neo geo. Putting something under the machine to slide and plenty of leverage will help.

It's a Madden Season 2... I forgot to mention though, the real issue is that it'd have to be unloaded uphill (as in pushed straight UP out of the thing and then getting it out without it going straight back down, lol), since the garage is right on top of one and it'd be almost impossible to fit the whole truck inside with the rest of the stuff inside... :D Otherwise yeah it wouldn't be so difficult... I've managed to get deluxe twin games out of a van pretty easily when I lived on flatland but the slope sort of complicates things, lol. (Namely, if nobody can get behind it to push it out, since it's so damn big...) The cardboard idea is a good one though. I also don't have access to the truck I thought I did so I'd be trying to get it in/out of a minivan... hmm...

Easiest thing to do is disassemble the machine in the bed of the truck. Remove the monitor, control panel, back door, and anything else that you can. The 400lb cab now becomes a 200lb cab. MUCH easier to move around. Then, when you get it inside and in place, reassemble it and you're good to go.

That's what I do.

moved a race drivin cockpit onto and off of a pickup bed using three guys to load and two to unload.. using an old wooden door as a ramp. Worked like a champ!!

I'd unload the game in the street, then use a hand truck to roll it up your driveway to the garage.

No matter what 'but... but... but' you use against that, it'll STILL be easier than trying to unload it out of a truck parked backwards on a hill. I don't care if your driveway's a mile long.
