Geeze! This has been a horrible week!
If you never had kidney stones before... pray that you never do!!!
Went thru Lithotripsy yesterday.
Finally back to semi-normal today thanks to pain killers.

Thanks,

Been there. The first time I had an attack I was pretty sure I was going to die. My vision whited out (think looking into an extremely thick fog bank) from the pain in my back. I had no idea what was going on but I knew it wasn't good.

Actually pissing out the stones from my bladder was nothing compared to the initial kidney to bladder pain in my experience.

Oh yeah, been there.....twice, about eight years apart. I figure I'm good for another round in 2015. My last bout.....the doctors had to go at them twice....about thirty days apart. They decided to stick a stent in me.....for the entire month! I thought the stones were bad...pissing with that stent in would drop me to the floor. Some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. Oh yeah, one of my last bastards was just a little over 2 centimeters.

Glad to hear that you're on the road to recovery, Ed.

I pissed a couple of kidney stones about 12 years ago. I went to the Dr. about it and he put me on an antibiotic in case I had scratched the ureathra. When I asked him about how I can make sure I never, ever, EVER, do that again, he said to drink apple or cranberry juice on a regular basis. Apparently these juices raise the acidity in the kidneys and will help dissolve or flush growing kidney stones. I've been drinking apple juice at least once a month since then with no recurrance <knock on wood>.

If you have never gone through it before, I don't recommend it.

Ed, get better soon, we miss you.

Sucks... but you describe where I am now. That stinking stent is driving me absolutely mad! Time to go pee more razor blades! It's more of a medieval torture device than anything that can possibly help medically!

2cm?!?! I thought I was bad at about 1cm! I cannot imagine going thru this torture device for the 30 days like you did...the past three days since the operation has been absolute hell! Dr said it comes out on Thursday... my imagination is running wild about exactly -how- they are going to remove it.

Dr said mine was about half inch but that 1" ones are not that uncommon. I cannot imagine it being worse! I believe he said the largest one he has seen was nearly the size of a tennis ball. No way...

Yup, pissing with that fucking stent IS the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life.

Removable of the stent.......Do you REALLY want me to tell you???

There's actually two different kinds of stents they ues....one with a "string"....and one without. Mine was "without".....and judging by your post, yours is too.

Save a couple of pain pills for the day of removable!

Edward
