Yep. Bought one on the way home tonight. It was marked $29.99 so I wasn't gonna buy it. Then the guy at the counter said "I think they're on sale" and he checked and it was $19.99 so I bought it.

Just grabbed one. Thanks for the heads-up. The cashier was already acting kinda weird about selling it to me... He had to ask a manager if he was still allowed to. They had them behind the counter out of sight... Apparently they were mobbed today by people that had heard about it.
I was so happy to get one, I totally forgot to ask about the handheld 3" screen one. D'oh.

I don't think anyone has actually seen them yet (here, at least). Apparently it's about the same thing. The SD interface is the same, so running Genesis ROMS is no problem.
Why? There are only like three games worth playing....

Giving finals right now so I have nothing better to do than come here and what do I see, payment_due talking about piracy. Shocking. The fact that you see no difference between playing roms of games that are no longer available from the original source and pirating new games that you could go to the store and buy (if you weren't suck a broke-ass cheap fuck) just confirms that you are clueless.
These things are likely not even illegal. The patents on the NES, SNES, and Genesis have expired and the company that makes these may have paid Nintendo and Sega for the rights to use the roms. This is why you are seeing more hardware clones of old systems popping up in the US. The patents have expired. The patent on the N64, for example, has not expired, which is probably why you don't see many N64 hardware clones for sale over here yet. I'm sure companies like Hyperkin are anxiously waiting for it to expire though.

Actually, there were several 32X games that I found really enjoyable. Shadow Squadron was one that I loved and would love to see a remake of these days. Regardless, it'd be cool to see them run on this thing just for shits.
My local one had 3 locked up in a glass cabinet. I picked up 2 of 'em before they all disappeared.
They also had 2Gb microSD cards with the SD adapter for $7.99 ea so I nabbed 3 of them. One each for the game systems and 1 for my kid's MP3 player as he's run out of space on it.

This sounds pretty cool. I'd probably buy one, but I already have modded Xboxes that have the Sega Genesis emulator and all of the ROMs already on it (as well as emulators and ROMs for most systems). So it would kind of be a step backwards and down to use one of these.
The portable one with a screen sounds cool. Much cheaper than a Nomad.

Me and a bunch of people at work cleared out a walgreens at lunch today. The others nearby will likely be cleared out later tonight by those who didn't get one at lunch

Aaactually no I wasn't trolling, but whatever. I was talking to the other guy and just expected captain Internet to show up and lose his shit, and as usual he didn't disappoint. Maybe you should focus on his attitude toward other members rather than two people having a conversation. Just a thought.
