Generic art?

I'm currently working on converting a poker cab into something that will actually get played. But I'm torn on what to do art wise. I could just pick a dedicated theme and roll with that but I'd feel a bit wrong about do that since it will have a multi setup in it. Ive been trying to find some generic art but it all looks like total garbage, or it's very boring. This was a $20 cab so I'm mostly just putting something together with spare parts so I don't really want to sink $800 in custom art. But I would put a couple hundos in it to end up with a decent looking cab. Any thoughts?

Depends on what you like. Could go with grid or geometric shapes, planets space themed, or something similiar. More than likely, will have to make it yourself. Anything you can probably find, won't be great.

With that in mind how "wrong" would it be to just pick a theme and roll with it? I don't think I could bring myself to go with a classic theme. But maybe something newer like ghosts and goobers or Castlevania or something of the like.


For the time being it's just going to have my spare 19 in 1 in it. But I would like to start collecting jamma boards that I can rotate out in this cab.

I dressed up a poker cabinet using only a repro Qbert control panel overlay.

One of my customers wanted a Qbert for his wife. They were not arcade purists so I used a Dell PC and MAME to run the game. They were very happy with their machine.

Who cares what we think. Its a 8liner cab and more importantly it's yours, nothing is wrong. Slap something on it that you'll like. My horizontal jamma in a bar cab is joust on one side tmnt on the other, just white vinyl cutouts on black.

I'd say either a single game theme or else a totally generic space theme.

....or go trashy with Playboy themed art.

Ok I think I have an idea of where I want to go with this art. But I'll need to find someone that can modify some art for me. Going to start a new thread for that.
