I didn't post this in the monitor section because I don't need "Help" with anything. I'd just like to know something.

Ok so I have a CRT tube sitting in my backyard off to the side waiting until I can remove it(Its a tube with heavy burn that I got from an op). I decided to move it a bit and when I laid it down it hit the neck off the ground and starting hissing and seemed like it was leaking some type of gas or air. I assumed this was poisonous and didn't stick around.
So what exactly was this?

Air being sucked into the vacuum that was just opened. Tube is under a high vacuum.

At this point you might as well take the tube off and throw it away. Once you let the magic vacuum out like that, the tube part is about as useful as ......................... actually I can't think of anything that useless.

One thing you might want to do, since it is destroyed, is carefully break the rest of the neck off and take a look at the guns. This way when you see discussions about the heater and the guns, you will know what is being discussed because you have actually seen them.

I also wouldn't leave the chassis and the frame outside much longer as those are at least still salvageable. You might want to carefully take the yoke off as you will need it if you intend to try tube swapping (or you wish to sell the parts to somebody else to try).

I specified Tube :p.
I got the monitor for free, it had heavy heavy burn so I kept the chasis etc and had laid just the tube outside until I could bring it to a disposal area.
When I moved it, it broke.
