Just thinking about this, thought I would ask...

I have about 10-15 games in my garage, which is nice and dry as far as water leaks and that sort of thing, but is not air conditioned. I buy almost all of my stuff cheap and fix them up because that's what i like to do...that's a lot of the fun for me.

I am trying to get all of my stuff fixed up and playing before I start really trying to put a "home arcade" together...meaning, when i have time i mostly spend it working on something rather than playing my game. At some point I hope to have stuff working and spend my time playing :)

Anyway...is there anything i should do? Like should i play the games once a week to keep the monitors working good or what? Should I get one of those humidity absorption buckets and put a couple of those around my games? or should I just wrap them up with plastic and cover them?

Just curious what you guys would do? I dont want to get stuff fixed then find out i have to go re-do all of my monitors again because they were sitting for so long.

You really don't need to play them just to keep the monitors going, they'll be fine. If you can avoid wild temperature swings, that's best, but the games should be fine as long as they're kept dry and free from excess heat for long periods of time. Maybe it would be smart to cover them to keep dust out, but these things are pretty durable and hold up quite well in storage.

I notice that when my games don't get used for a while, they start acting up. I turned mine on a few weeks ago and 2 out of 6 games didn't boot properly. One needed to have some chips pushed on to re-seat, and the other one is beyond that. Need to dig in deeper.. Mine are in a temp controlled basement. I have one game in the garage that will run when its 10 deg or 100 deg outside. Its been out there for years, but still plays great.
