General question about monitor/bezel mounting in Williams upright cabs

I am trying to decide which Williams/Midway games to reproduce for my arcade, and have settled on at least doing Defender, Stargate and Robotron 2084, but then i saw a photo of a lineup of games in similar cabs including moon patrol and joust, and i am therefore wondering which games were built in cabs of the robotron style (cp, monitor/bezel and marquee location/angle/height) ? or close to it ?

Well, some of the side angles are different, but the Robotron, Joust, and Stargate use similar control panels. Moon Patrol is also similar, but is a narrower cab. I think Sinistar is narrower also. Not sure about Bubbles, Mystic Marathon, or whatnot.

Defender is different alltogether when it comes to the control panel, but the bezel appears to be the same size as Stargate.

As for reproing cabs, be aware that Williams cabs had a board that the monitor attached to that would slide into the cab on top of the physically mounted monitor shelf, and then one would bolt to the other. So, you either need to repro the board that attaches to the monitor also, or raise the interior monitor shelf an inch (or 3/4") or so to compensate for mounting. That's if you use an internal blueprint for building the cab...

blueprints i am hoping to find, for both int and ext. former question relates to positioning of monitors, bezels etc within the cabs!

the additional monitor board you referred to solves another problem for me, that of using 20" monitors until i can acquire a suitable 19" model, by leaving out the monitor board and packing up the 20" frame/chassis to suit. hmmm.

Thanks!:)

I've reproduced a lot of cabs and the main problem with online prints is that most are close but not exact, and they don't show details like corner radius or internal cross sections.

If you could find a donor conversion cab to serve as a template, you'd be way ahead of the game. It all depends on what you want the end result to be- exact or close enough, and if you're going to source artwork and parts, those areas involved need to be pretty much dead on.

FWIW, I made full size patterns of existing cabs.

The Jakobud (sp?) plans were pretty close. I know I've answered this before, but here goes again:

Stargate, Joust and Robotron were the same width: 24-3/8".
Sinistar, Moon Patrol and Bubbles were slightly smaller: 23"

Mystic Marathon did not have a dedicated production cabinet, it was released as three conversion kits: 1 for Defender, 1 for Joust sized cabs and 1 for Moon Patrol sized cabs.

Hello all!

for all of these cabs - Stargate, Joust and Robotron (24-3/8" wide), and Sinistar, Moon Patrol and Bubbles (23" wide) - are the cleats for the display/bezel glass, game bezel , monitor surround/bezel and the monitor shelf all in the same position in the cabs ? (relative to the rear bottom corner)

that is if i can find one set of plans detailing the internal bezel cleats and monitor shelf, should it be applicable to the others too ?

Cheers!
