General power question

This is Super Off Road, right?

If you did smoke the amp hooking it up to 120V, which it looks like you did, then you could get another one and hook it to the 12VDC on the power supply. Really though I think you should just fix your board or pay someone to. It's a much better solution than kludging together other components.

That's genius!!! I had no idea this could be a DC amp. See that's why I should read the manual and instructions and listen to you guys!! And now probably get yelled at a bunch for being stupid and trying stuff and not figuring out these things first. Sorry and thank you!

Yes! This is exactly what I did! But now I know how to fix. Thank you thank you thank you!
Careful - fuses protect the wires generally.

So if you want to tie in and raise your fuse rating, you may need to increase your wire size.

Yes that one fuse probably saved my entire board several times. Certainly going to stick with the one i got in this case.

I think i tie the wires into the 12 volt dc out. I learn sooo much from you guys. I literally thought all things that connected to the wall where 120 ac ha ha. Now I realize that's obviously not the case. I didnt know the plug I had was converting the voltage to DC. Sooo cool. Thanks guys!
It may still be 12 VAC, but it's 12, not 120.

It says Car / Motorcycle / Arcade amp, which makes me think it's 12VDC. Look at the adapter, it usually states what the output is. The documentation just states 12 V.

From the Amazon listing definitely needs a 12VDC power supply and came with a wall wart.

If you can rewire a cab and blow things up, you can learn to replace an LM324. It's not hard. All you need is an iron and a $15 manual solder sucker.

If you're in this hobby, desoldering and replacing chips is something you should know.
all of this

with the dozens of threads I've helped you with over the years I'm kind of baffled you accomplished anything without soldering lol

I'm going to take that as a compliment and proof that you don't need to be able to solder to be in the hobby. I am able to be in the hobby just at a much lower crappier less talented version. And as usual you and the others are crazy helpful and the only reason I can even get by. So thank you sincerely.

If you're not willing to solder, why not just send the board out to someone and have it repaired properly? It shouldn't cost much to replace a chip or two.
The mail scares me. And we don't know if that will fix the problem for sure and it's not that I'm not willing, I have done it just not at this skill level but some day I hope to and plan to be. This is a little baby fix for now that doesn't really screw too much up.

better question is how do you know it's an LM324? did you cycle the volume knob both ways? cause I think it adjusts backwards

I don't know it's the lm324, that is something that some one else suggested. And yes I cycled both knobs all the different ways.

An LM324 can be verified bad by simply piggybacking a new one on the old. I'm not sure this always works but it did the two times I've needed to troubleshoot them.

Please, please, please send me this boardset and stop this insanity. I'll swap the lm324s for you for free. Flip a local foodbank some cash for the holidays and I'll ship it back. I can't watch this awesome game get jacked up anymore. DM me if you would like to take me up on this.

HaHa! I was thinking of making the same post. Fix it right and be done with it.
