General info question on professional restorations...

I have not had any game restored by a professional restorer
How much do they charge?
What is the time frame usually on this?
Pricing?
How bad does a cabinet have to be where they say your on your own?

What are your experiences fellow KLOVers?

No that I'm looking to get a game restored...Just curious.

If it is a video title than it will almost certainly cost more than the game is worth. Pinball, not so much.

Time involved is going to vary wildly from one shop or restorer to another. Todd from TNT Amusements could probably give you some ideas (although I believe they tend to restore games based off what a customer orders rather than working on a customer game).

Unless you have an impossible to replace game then there really can't be any such thing as too far gone, as if yours is too far gone then the restorer will probably get another unit or two involved in the restoration. You see that in a lot of Todd's restoration threads ("we used two of them to make this one").

Generally it will be cheaper to buy a nice example than it will be to fix up a beater.

No I was just wondering Generally the individual experiences on KLOV
Time frame is it worth it or would it just be as long you an individual to do it?

No matter how you look at it,or whoever you go to a restoration will be expensive. It is always cheaper to do a restoration yourself. Also, this pretty much guarantees that you will be 100% happy with the results afterwards. I would think getting a game proffesionally restored gives the restorer the chance to take advantage of the customer in anyway possible and if you are not familiar with what is or should be done in the restoration process you may never even know if what they say they did actually got done. May I ask,why are you looking to get a resto done? Is it lack of time, knowledge,or do you just not feel like doing it? For the price of a restore you may as well buy the game that you want from a retailer. Also, you should factor in the cost of the resto versus what you could possibly sell the game for should you decide to do so in the future.
