WTF is up with the operations at Lizard Lick. It takes them 3 weeks to a month to SHIP an order. They blame the release of SFIV for being so backed up, but seriously, does Lizard Lick get SO MUCH traffic... SO MUCH business that they can't catch up and get to a point where they are shipping within a reasonable amount of time?

Lets see... the very same day (Saturday, August 14th) I ordered parts from Lizardlick, Twisted Quarter, and Bob Roberts...

Bob Roberts shipment arrived Wednesday. That's right... WEDNESDAY... and this is an OLD dude who runs the operations between his wife, kids, and himself... and I am sure Bob gets as much business as Lizard Lick, wouldn't you think? Dudes on top of shit... gets it done... and done fast... one of the best if not the best in the industry...period.

Twisted Quarters first shipment came in on Saturday...with a note that the 25' of Chrome T-Molding was back ordered and will be shipped separately. That order came in Monday.

Lizard Lick? I check their site and the have an "updates" page explaining everything (ie: blowing smoke up your ass)... well, they are WORKING on orders from 8/8 today and SHIPPING orders for 8/1-8/7 today. WTF? Really? I am looking at another week before you even LOOK at my order?

The bottom line is that either (A) They are truly swamped. In order to be so swamped that you can't even LOOK at an order placed for 3 weeks, you must be getting a SHIT-TON of business. I don't see it.

or

(B) They've got their heads up their asses and are running the place hodge-podge and inefficiently.

My guess is (B)... but who knows?

EDIT: Lets find out... counter is currently at 1799809... lets see what it is in an hour from now and extrapolate.

Well, it matters what you're ordering, I guess.

If you're ordering joysticks and buttons, I can see some of them getting backed up because the custom arcade controls scene absolutely exploded in the past 6 months.

From what I understand about Lizard Lick, however, is that they don't like to have tons and tons of stock on hand. It is frustrating to wait, but I guess it comes down to the fact that profit margins are thin enough that they exercise some caution. Personally, I don't see the demand for their Japanese style sticks and buttons going down any time soon though, so they should really bulk up on those.

I vote B' - My friend and I had this very discussion and in a 40 hour work week you shouldn't be that far behind. You can get a lot done in an 8 hour day if that is your only job.

I simply ordered blue IL sticks and HAPP buttons. Nothing special... and their update page doesn't indicate these parts being back ordered.

Bob had all the buttons i wanted save for orange comp buttons and the black P1/P2 start buttons... so i ordered 2 Orange comps, 2 p1/p2 buttons and 2 sticks.

Sanwa and Seimitsu parts. I believe they are one of the only places in the US that carry them. Obviousily they don't want to stock a lot since they are a small orgainization and it takes a while for them to restock since they have to get the parts from over seas.

They've had the disclaimer on the website for a while. Personally, I don't see what the problem is.

I'm just bitching and moaning. If LL was a "side job" like Mamemarquees, or JROK, or what not, I'd have absolutely ZERO to bitch about... but LL comes off as a "dedicated full time" vendor. As a dedicated full-time vendor, they're sucking ass. That JMHO BTW.

EDIT: Oh wait... I ordered 2 marquees and a bezel from Scott at MAMEMARQUEES last Tuesday and guess what... I got notice it was shipped yesterday. D0H!

I worked in shipping for a long time, at a smaller warehouse i could ship out an easy 100+ UPS packages a day. I bet they just dont have what you want and are waiting for it. Theres just no way they are that delayed in JUST shipping. If they have this kind of volume they should be setup with a shipping station from whatever their chosen carrier is. Either that or they have no real warehouse employee's and maybe have 1 guy doing everything.....

whatever the reason its BS.

Frizz my guess is LL is simply brokering the parts. I used to do it with PC parts back in the day and made a KILLING. I'm sure he won't admit to it - but brokering is such a safe way fo doing business and requires very little invenstment. Not sitting on parts for months on end and such. It allows you to have more cash on hand to place else where. Just a guess. I've talked a few times with the owner "Chad" is it???" anyway he was super nice to deal with and always replied to my emails within a couple hours.

No excuse for LL though - seems a lot of negatibity towards LL lately.

Guy could be the nicest guy in the world... not sure.

According to their UPDATE page, the delay isn't in shipping...it's in packing, etc...

http://www.lizardlick.com/order_update.shtml

Sounds like this is a part-time business only...even though they claim there are 2 full-time employees and 2 part-timers.

Sounds to me with that kind of help they dont work overtime even when business is good.

All businesses talk a big game. Just look at Dave Foley. Shoot, he had a "Vice President of business communication", or something like that.

In the end they may lose some business because unless there is a valid excuse for shipping delays, customers get pissed off. If business is that good, work 14 hour days to satisfy the customer, or soon you won't have any.

Well, I've already looked for an alternate source for the parts I need. Tornado Terry's has my orange buttons, but not the Blue IL sticks. They have HAPP sticks, but I want the old school IL design, not the new Chinese Happ design. No one seems to have black P1/P2 buttons so it seems I am stuck waiting.

Oh well...

Paint is a wonderful thing!

Oh well...

There is a guy on byoac that sells button labels. Once upon a time I used them, and they worked awesome. You could get them reverse weeded, and use it as a paint stencil if you don't like the idea of a vinyl sticker.

What does Street Fighter 4 have to do with an online parts supplier? Are they PLAYING the game too much?
