Currently my Gauntlet is having I?O issues that come and go on Valkyrie, start button on the Warrior works occasionally, and a mix of these issues and directional problems on the joysticks. How does a Pokey express itself as a I/O problem? I have a few of these boards that are behaving pretty much the same way and I'm just garnering some info on where to start with getting this and my other Gauntlet boards behaving again. Graphically and sound wise my "good" board has been perfect until recently. It started slowly and was glitching out graphically and splashing a ram error occasionally and rebooting.
I have zero experience with troubleshooting Gauntlet and I'm hoping someone has some pointers for me.

Move the connector on the game board to another adjacent player and see if the problem moves or stays at Val. If the problem moves it's wiring and so on.

WRT the graphics issues. Have you run the self test? This era of Atari games have kinda crappy sockets so it might just be something simple like that which you can catch with inspection.

Thanks for the info, I'm leaning toward the sockets at this point. The game was working properly when it started posting ram errors. I'm in the middle of some other repairs but I will revisit this thread in the near future and update my findings.
