I picked up a Gaultlet Legends with the Vegas 777 boardset and when it powers up I see LED3 count from 0-6 then flashes u E then starts over again. Where can I find the list of error codes?? I have the manual and searched it but I guess it was too much to ask that it be included there.

In situations like this you need to realize this board set was used on several games. If you can't find an answer for the current game look at the manual for the other games that also utilized this board set. A good reference point is http://system16.com
Then use http://www.crazykong.com to locate the manual.

First thing to check is your power. IIRC the board uses +3.3,+5, -5, +12 for voltages. Ensure it's getting the correct amount of juice. If a faulty power supply you can easily hack in a PC power supply. You simply need to cut and tie the green wire to any of the blacks (ground) which in essence gives you constant power instead of needing another switch.

Disconnect the hard drive and turn the machine on. You should at least see an error of some sort. Typically a bad or missing hard drive will send the machine into an endless boot cycle.

I did checked voltages first and everyting from the board looked good and when I disconnected the HD I didn't see any change to the 0-6 uE error message.

Let's just start over. So you are sure the voltages are correct.
Do you hear the monitor charge up - putting you hand on the glass part of the tube has static?
Reseat EVERY cable and molex connector including wiring harness.
Pull the socketed chips out, CAREFULLY clean the legs off reinsert chips.

Ok, Yes the monitor has static and rasters up when you try to boot the game. I completly disconnected all the boards, reseated the chips and put it back together. I checked all the voltages coming onto the main vegas board all getting appropriate readings, I was trying to check the HD. I hooked up the HD to an external IDE reader, the drive spins up but shouldn't XP recognise the HD? I know I probably can't access the roms but thought I should be able to browse the drive.

arcade hard drives don't use Windows file systems for storage, it'll come up as a RAW volume I think. (basically, unrecognizable)

if you have an extra hard drive laying around, and know which version your game is, you can probably download a MAME CHD of the GL hard drive and just dump it to the donor drive and see if it works then.

you probably have a bad hard drive, that'll lend itself to a black screen (or purple?)

might be too big. I forget if there's a capacity limit on these. lol

I think 20 gb might be as far as you can go...

6 = hard drive issue
8 = video card issue

Those are all the ones that I know, unfortunately.

Sounds like you have the former.
