OK, so I got this machine and a week later it would just come up with a white screen, with no sound. I adjusted the monitor and nothing. The board shows a .8 or 8. but not sure what that means. I asked around and was told it was probably the hard drive. I finally was able to get it replaced, and it didn't fix.

Any ideas what the numbers mean on the board? What else could the problem be?

Yeah, start with the p/s voltages. My Gauntlet is EXTREMELY picky about the voltages. The numbers on the LED display (as far as I know) are the different "stages" of booting the game. It should go (iirc) 1-9, and then a-f (I think). At that point, the game will start. So, if you're not running through the whole sequence, and you've changed the hard drive, then I would suspect you've got a pcb problem. Also, check the edge connector, as Atari games from the late 90's would commonly burn the ground pins and cause problems as well.

Gauntlet Legends LED Error Codes

Does anyone have a list of the LED codes for these Vegas 777 boards? I have no video or audio. On startup it begins at 1 and runs up to 8, pauses for a couple of seconds, then continues to run through some letters "a" through "f", then stops at a O, then stops at a b. for a few more seconds, then starts all over at 1. Sometimes it goes from 1 to 6 and quickly starts over again. I have looked around on these boards and some people have mentioned a "u" and "E" code, however I am not getting either one of those.

Thanks

If it cycles through the numbers and ends up after the 8 displaying a U E that means a bad video card.

6 means bad hard drive.

If the numbers don't cycle and just show .8 or 8 that's a different beast and I don't know what that means.

I've never had to troubleshoot our two Vegas machines really, but...

If it immediately goes to "8." (eight WITH a dot) as soon as you turn it on, and never changes... my instinct says that's its way of telling you the CPU isn't executing code. Could be voltages, CPU, or ROMs, but start with the voltages. Hard drive issue would almost certainly be signified by it starting to count and stopping on a certain digit (like the 6 mentioned earlier).

When the Vegas computer is "operating normally" (i.e. all tests passed and now we're running the game proper) it'll blink the horizontal segments on and off in a sweeping animation. I can get a video of this if you'd like.
