Ok, so this seems like a bizarre problem I've run into on a Gauntlet that I am restoring: I wired everything up, crossed my fingers and flipped the switch. I was so pleased that it came on and everything was working. I even let my son play a game before I shut it back down. I powered it on and off a few times over the next few hours and everything looked great. Then, while it was running, I opened the left coin door. The screen went dark and I blew the 44 bulb that was in there. Uh oh. I replaced the fuses, turned it back on, no luck. I then got out the multimeter and found that I had 5V going to the board in all the right places but noticed I was not getting 12V-15V from the gray wire from the sound board. I checked the two red wires going TO the sound board and they had the right amount. I figured I'd call it a day but decided to replace the blown bulb on the left coin door. I replaced it, powered it back up and everything was working fine again!!!
Any detectives out there got any ideas why this 44 (now 47) bulb is the keystone to the whole darn thing?
