Gauntlet Dark Legacy: Will not boot

Yea. That'll be phase 2 I'm afraid. I wanted to take a crack at it myself. Never dealt with one of these though. And it's been sitting unworking for 2 weeks on the arcade floor. It's getting to be that time though. I was hoping to use the Durango board in the meantime while the Vegas was out to them.

I don't think they are interchangeable. And the Vegas boards use at least some surface mount technology IIRC so soldering/shotgunning components wouldn't be easy. In fact, most places don't repair Vegas boards; I just found a few places / people that did.

Yea. It's listed as dark legacy. However with the issues I've encountered I don't think they are. Well know more when the new security chip arrives Monday. Also the new chip programmer where I can run a new U44. Here's hoping.

What do you mean there not interchangeable?
I am running a 777 / Durango setup in my Dark Legacy and it runs fine.

Yea. I'm hoping it's just the U37 security PIC. I have a new on on the way. The Durango board is throwing that error and won't boot.

Hey so question. Is dark legacy compatible with the Denver SIO board? Is that where my security chip error is derived from?

You know what, I think you're right. I think the HW changed between Legends and Legacy.

That you are correct on. DL was able to run on Durango and run VGA Natively. I don't think legends could do that.

Yeah, it's just weird because you could upgrade Legends to Legacy and that would work fine.

Hey guys. Just an update. After getting a new eprom programmer and some new eproms it seems the U44 is still locking up. Another cleaning and a bit of a retipping of the socket still yielded no results. I have a repair request in to arcade services but am waiting for my reference number back. Anyone have a 777 Vegas board for sale? I realized the security chip issue I was having is that the Denver SIO board is incompatible with gauntlet.

I am confused???? Denver I/O board??

If you mean Durango Then you have some other issue as Dark Legacy does support and Run on that hardware.
Dark Legacy will run on the Vegas / 777 and the Durango / 777 hardware.
The only game I know of that ran Denver was Rush. So how did you end up with that in a Gauntlet system??

That As far as I know will not work.

Sorry,
I was using a rush board set to try and eliminate the connector between the boards being the issue. It's not, yea a rush denver board is not compatible. :p but the durango on the vegas SIO yielded similar results. Pulled binarys for the U44 chip from a legends mame, and a legacy mame. Both checksums are the same as the lifted original but again all I get is a C on the manta readout on the center board and audio failed to load on the boot screen. So I'm hunting a good repair service. I have an email out to arcade services but have not heard back. And reliable KLOVer's work on these? I hate to have it down on the arcade floor. Makes me sad. :(

Hey guys. So an update. I've purchased a working board from channelmanic. So the game is up and running. I've ordered a new oscilloscope and am looking forward to running through the old board and posting updates here over the next few weeks and months. Maybe we can run this problem down. Since I've seen some dead ended and abandoned threads on the subject.
