saw a 4p gauntlet cab converted to Crime Fighters, and wondering if it would be possible to swap in my 4p TMNT board.

Not sure I'd want to get it though, I think i'd prefer something closer in size to a 4 player blitz cabinet to use as a 4p switching cabinet. Just looking to get some thoughts from people who have been doing this a lot lot longer than I have.

If i did pick it up, probably run TMNT in it for now and maybe look to turn it back into a Gauntlet, in hopes that I could eventually pick up a better home for the TMNT board.

Being that Crime Fighters is a jamma board, unless the harness is hacked to hell, you should be able to use it as a TMNT.
If you need any of the Gauntlet stuff when you go to convert it back, look me up.

gauntlet is a horrible cabinet to play as player 3 and 4.. Some blitz use optical joysticks that you will have to swap out and the midway connector is probably different than konami player 3 and 4 connectors. I think a bliz cab would be a better choice. But make sure its not a medium rez monitor!!

But tmnt should plug into crime fighters no problem. I cant imagine the player 3 and player 4 plug would be different. If it is, it will be easy to fix.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the original Gauntlet, not Gauntlet Legends.

Konami actually made a kit to convert Gauntlet to Crime Fighters. I used to have a Crime Fighters that was converted from a Gauntlet. We used to play TMNT (and all the other Konami 4-p) on the cab all the time. Super simple. Just plug the Jamma connector to your PCB, and then plug to 2 player 3/player 4 cables into the board, and you are good to go.

Worst thing that can happen is you get player 3 and 4 swapped.

Here's a pic of my old machines:

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up.

You mentioned you might eventually turn the Crime Fighters back into a Gauntlet.

Just so you know, your machine may end up with a case of flatulence. It has happened before:

You have been warned, turn it back only if you have adequate ventilation! :-D

(On a happy note, Deathfactor eventually solved the problem, but the thread is so funny it needed resurrecting!)
