So Im looking for a cap kit for my gauntlet audio board. Would buy one from bob roberts but not sure exactly what the board is called and what to order. Can someone help me on this?

It's just a stereo amplifier, all the audio brains are on the main pcb, it just has no amp.

Why do you think you need to cap it?

Ah ok, then caps may well be the cause, its also worth checking that the audio wiring between the board and the amp is not draped over the power supply, same with the connections to any external volume pot, these wires should be kept away from anything with mains on it or they can pick up mains hum.

Is the amp chip heatsink getting very hot? It should be warm only, if it is painful to touch after a couple of minutes then you do need to look at the 12v decoupling capacitors.

If it is the board I am thinking about, I would just buy from mouser. Do you have a list of the caps?

Wiring is all good and I checked the connections and they were good. Transistors and heatsinks are fine and the hum starts instantly. There might be one bulged cap on the board. Would like to recap everything. Anyone know what caps I need or get me in touch with mouser.

Oooops

Heh, for some reason I was thinking the audio board was the ps.. Guess I've got ARIIs stuck in my head.. Sorry about that

I also just realized that there is no sound when I throw my weapon. I replaced 3 caps on the board but still having problems. Maybe need to reseat everything?

Check the two ROM sockets near the audio processor. I think it's a Yamaha chip near the side with the control panel connectors.

The self test mode also runs through the audio sounds and such.

FYI the audio board is a dual amp, so if you are missing sounds, it may be just for that player as they are in stereo. If you only have one speaker hooked up, some sounds will be missing.

I have to do a cap kit on one of my amos as well. Can you tell me what caps you used? Cap list?

Maybe I jsut found my answer here...
