Finally got my first vid (And my grail!) and it is a working 100% example which was exactly what I wanted to start out with. It was in good mechanical shape overall; just rough around the edges. Full side art, came with Gauntlet II CP but did have Atari joysticks and working well. Front art was original Gauntlet 1 along with original Marquee. All serial stickers reflect original on power assembly, CPU board and sound board. It had three of four "T" nuts with only two having glides. The bottom was solid however despite the missing items. The full side art was in decent shape considering but has some minor wear marks. The vinyl was peeling off from most places and with me wanting a restored but perfect looking example, I elected to carefully peel the vinyl off keeping the full side art intact (for sale now for cheap to good home that can maybe use it to reproduce).

From the history I've found it was always in the northeast Pennsylvania. I found Zack's Periwinkle's token (Chuck-E Cheese type of place) which was based in that area. Since August 2009, I understand I am the 5th KLOV'er to have it.

Immediately after getting I I removed and broke down the coin doors so I can get them sand blasted.

The first plan of attack was to fix the bottom right corner that was broken/split (likely from catching the edge and the T molding allowing it to chip away). After disassemly, I got to work on the damaged corner. Fortunately it wasn't water damage from what I could tell, but just chipped off. I cleaned up the area with Dremel tool and then glued a new piece of plywood on. Followed up with some Bondo and lots of sanding. I also found that back bottom section near the damaged corner pretty beat up and the bottom edge and elected to pull it out and also replaced with new plywood. The rest of the cabinet needed very little Bondo at a few areas since I was repainting.

I did a rough sanding of the entire cabinet and primed it with two coats from spray cans. I followed up with Rustoleum Black Appliance Epoxy paint with two coats from spray cans.

The monitor bezel was fairly decent condition but had a few imperfections I smoothed down and repainted with some black hammertone finish paint. I chose to paint the raised Atari logo flat white even though I understand its not original.

Next, I installed new 3/4 black "T" molding and a new coin door repro sticker.

At this point I still have to install the new reproduction full side art, put new "T" molding on the CP, and have coin doors blasted and painted. I have also picked up a Gauntlet II board that I'm currently running in it.

Pics to follow!

Thanks guys. Its coming along. Waiting to get some help to actually fix the art rather than mess it up trying by myself. Looks really great. Lots of help here from fellow KLOV'ers. Couldn't have done it (or gotten it!) without the help of you. You know who you are!

Got the coin doors and bezels sandblasted Saturday. Painted yesterday. Here's the start of the upper doors.

A to B Nutty. Looks awsome. Nice work. it is like deja voo... :)
Art looks good on there too. Looks like it all lines up just right too. Glad you like it. Hey I sent you those pics of how I put mine on. I hope it helps you out.
post pics of next stage..

Thanks JP! I stuck on the left side last night by myself (Didn't want to wait for help but really should have!). Not perfect, but still looks good. Heat gun was my friend again!

Pics of finished and installed coin doors and left side art installed.

Ok, I need to get some more pictures, but I got the sideart on completely on both sides. Can not emphasize enough two people makes the difference. First side I got impatient and did it myself. And it shows. Second (Right side) I got help and he held tension while I used a plastic flat blade tool (Like for applying Bondo) and pushed in middle and spread out reavealing only some sticker (3-5 inches at a time) and it worked perfectly.

Also got the T molding on. Stapled underneath to hold like it was originally and used heat gun carefully to bring down the high spots of the lip at the sharp bends. Looks great and want to spend a bit more time on some of the areas.

Playing it last night after the work was done:

Yes, thanks Sean, I did change them out and plan on the sticks as well. Note that the CP I'm using and modified is the orignal nasty one that I spent hours on removing the G2 sticker and residue to reveal a mint G1 underneath.

Also looking for Coin Controls Blue, Yellow and Green coin reject buttons to anyone that has them...

Ah.....Ok. Well just know that they are there for you if you need them.
Did you get a chance to get those measurements I asked you about?
Was just curious.

Does anyone have a pair of these coin control covers? I have two broken. :(
