Gauging interst in 0.1" crimpers WITH locators
Been talking to Rostra Tools (Sargent Tools) about creating a crimper for 0.1" contacts that:
1 -- crimps both wire an insulation at the same time (like professional crimper 3135-CT)
2 -- includes a locator for the 0.1" contacts
For those of you who have never used a crimper with a locator -- this is a simple to use feature. You push button on bottom and drop contact into locator - the locator holds the contact at the proper orientation and depth plus has a wire stopper on it to prevent you
from inserting wire too far. You squeeze and release the handles and then push the button to release the contact -- perfect crimp every time. Once you use a crimper with a locator - you will NEVER want to go back to the old style crimper!
The Rostra Tool professional 3000 series crimpers (formerly Molex W-HT series crimpers) include locators for each crimper size except for the 0.1" crimpers.
Rostra Tool may be interested in creating a 1000 series crimper with these features if there is enough demand.
This tool will be similar to their 1027-CT crimper as shown on this page:
http://www.greatplainselectronics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=1027-CT
But the new tool will be specifically for 0.1" crimp contacts. They did not say what the price would be but I imagine it will be similar to the 1027-CT's at $38
Rostra tool needs a certain amount of demand before they will do this but they won't disclose this amount of demand to me. So -- I need a show of hands as to how many people would be interested in such a crimper.
Thanks,
