Gauging interest...NEW "black is Bulletproof" Amplifone flybacks

Lexel makes them as they are ordered. These are not just lying around. I know one person who has used both flybacks Wintron/ Cinelab and says the Wintron gives a more stable picture. I have not seen the difference myself but hopefully we can get enough orders to get this going.

Not terribly sure I see a reason for the wintrons to be 'run'. The cinelabs ones are just fine at a good price, picture stability i'd blame far more on the rest of the monitor than I would a flyback. Dont' forget, both of them were designed in the US.. just because it's produced overseas doesn't discount the quality of the original design provided it's produced to specification. Don't think there's reason to believe one is more 'bulletproof' than another. I suppose I personally didn't care for lexel's choice to jack up the price because they thought they were the only game in town and could, based on that i'd buy from mark first either way. Quality wise, don't think there's a difference.

I would put some serious money on the idea that the Wintrons are made to higher specs and with a lot better quality control than the others. Cinelabs is obviously charging a lot more than they need to if they are getting over 3 times as much as Chad and Bob are for the same thing.

So you're going to lie to all of our faces and say that blkdog didn't have failures with your EZV20 flybacks?

I have actually had (2) new Chinese EZV20 flybacks go bad. One I did buy from Chad and one I bought from ArcadeShop. The one I bought from ArcadeShop split down the middle after about 2-3 weeks of use. Arcadeshop replaced the split one, no questions asked and it has been working great since. I probably have about 4 or 5 of the Chinese ones in my games. No real complaints. The price is right.

BTW - I don't believe China stuff is automatically crap. That is a very small minded view of the world. Have you looked around your house lately? Practically everything that is affordable and worth owning is made in China. And, a lot of it is made by good honest people in well run factories that are full of extremely smart people. Trust me, I know. It's my living. :)

Almost a 50% failure rate.

I need 6 more orders to make this happen. This will probably be the only chance people have to get this flyback at this price.

HI John, When did you buy a Sanyo flyback from me? I looked all of 2010 and you name did not come up. What was wrong with the one you bought from me?. Also, you never contacted me about any Sanyo. Are you sure you bought one from me? Please keep in mind if the monitor board is not driving the flyback correctly it will not work or destroy it from a higher hot collector vpp pulse. Good luck. Regardless if you bought it from me or not let me know whats wrong with it maybe i have an answere for you. Thanks.

I Chad. PM sent. It was probably 2009. It wasn't this year. All is good, no worries. I have given you the benefit of the doubt. My Nanao in my Turbo is working great, thanks for the good service! :)

I find it VERY hard to believe that the Lexel´s are made `on order´.

That can never be cost efficient.

I would like to see some proof of the more stable picture, and also, what is more stable

Arc, I have an original Penntran and would like a second one (Wintron style) for my spare Amplifone HV board. Count me in. Interestingly, when I called Lexel Imaging a couple of months ago and specifically talked to them about this part (Atari PN A201005-01,Lexel PN 926862802), they indicated that it was no longer produced and was "discontinued".

You aren't that DENSE are you?????? Cinelabs paid for the development costs!!! Chad and Bob did not. Figure it out.

There's the whole point of why you buy from the creator and not the bootlegger that seems to be lost. The guy selling it on the cheap has not got a dime involved in the process of creating the bloody things.

And lexel pulled this same garbage last time.. its out of stock, it's discontinued etc.. Oh wait, we can get you for 250 each?? they're back now! Good product, but screw that when there's an alternative that won't play games with you that's just as well engineered and tested at this point.

Lexal has been making these for a few years now. Lexal is a subsidiary of wintron and pentran. They had original plans of doing one last build out of this product back in 2005 or 2006. The started a list of people as soon as Wintron sold the last of them. They also wanted all units prepaid up front with no estimated date for shipping. As soon as the list got fairly large they felt that they had the right to up the price. Wintron was selling these for 125 then bumped them upto 165 then sold out and tranferred the manufacturing to lexal. the original price quoted from lexal's original waiting list was 165 each, then about a week later the price jumped up to 250. Then they informed us that the lead time was at least 6-8 months. I cut my order down to 1. It was over 11 months before I finally rec'd the finished product. NOTE the first one failed right out of the box. Lexal was good about replacing it, but offered no explanation about the failure.

I think they got stuck with a bunch of parts to build these since a majority of the orders were cancelled due to the fact that the price went up 50% and that Cinelabs released their version during the waiting period. They are willing to cut a final deal to get rid of their inventories.

just my 2 cents

Mark

It's amazing, this is so hard for some to comprehend. :)

It one thing to go...fuck it, money's tight...I'm cheap. I'll be buying the cheap one. But very few are owning up to this. Instead, we've got a bunch of....hell, I don't know what to call it....but no one can be this dense.

And for the record...and my opinion....I don't think Chad, or Bob, or Simon, or anyone else (I know there was a Canadian selling these for awhile...I can't remember his name) is stealing from Mark. Mark is getting royally screwed by the manufacturer, but that's another story. Everyone else involved....you could call capitalists, at best.......opportunists at worst. I don't agree with the fact that Mark isn't getting his fair "piece of the pie".....but, shit happens. I'm mature enough to agree to disagree....and leave it at that.

end rant

Mark is getting royally screwed by the manufacturer, but that's another story.

Most overseas manufacturing has no loyalty or laws that prohibit them from selling to 'other' suppliers. After they make a part (aka Cinlabs flyback) they immediately look to sell it to another vendor. They probably found Arcadecup and Bob Roberts on the web and struck a deal.

It's not fair but there are limited laws to protect Cinelabs products when they are outsourced to the lowest bidder.

Trying to tear down one product to build up another........ terrible I say.
We are hearing many stories about cine version simply because there are a hell of a lot of people using them lately. I had a Cine crap out after 3 months. Man made bound to fail - that is my unarguable logic. So what if there's a failure out of the box? This happens with everything. And as far as a "more stable picture" I highly doubt that. Shostak told me that Wintron and his version both had their flaws/faults. Darn if I can remember the intricate details but he more or less said the ONLY flyback that does the job perfectly was the original. Take notice Shostak not once has ever down played the Wintron version. NOT ONCE! He's a class act for sure.

Dave it's great you're trying to fill your need for a Wintron/Lexel and asking people if they need/want one, and maybe I've missed something some where in this thread but don't sit there and judge a product that you have yet to claim to have had personal bad experiences with. Stick to the facts. And FWIW - I have never said anything negative about the Wintrons performance because I have never owned one. If we get so hung up on the US VS Chinese made I would bet 90% of our household items wouldn;t exist. That is a guess of course.

Lastly I would guess any version "Simon, Chad, Bob" is the EXACT same one shostak designed that Hovee whored out.
