Gauging interest in Spy Hunter Mods

If there is any interest, I may be able to help in the preservation of Spy Hunter. First off, I've asked before about the steering wheel pipe covers. So far there have been no replacements. I think I have found an acceptable replacement.

The top is the new replacement and the bottom is the old original

Here it is installed. Original on left and new replacement on right.

Not an exact match, the new has a little more of a flat finish and the bumps are spaced out a little more, but pretty damn close. Thinking maybe around $10-$15 + s/h for a pair? Maybe lower if interest is there.

If anyone is interested in this, I can get more. Just gauging interest right now.

Also...

For those who want to preserve their bezels. I have come up with an LED mod.

The original bulbs get quite warm and seem dull through the weapon images. To prevent flaking to the bezel, replace the lights with LEDs.

Original incandescent bulbs.

New colored LEDs

Again, if anyone is interested in either of these mods, pm me and I'll see what I can do. I may be a little while to get these together, but if there is interest I may be able to get about 25 of each in a couple of months.

There would be an inline adapter. No permanent alteration. No soldering. As far as the colors, the guns and missiles are orange and the smoke and oil are a lightish purple. The color LEDs just enhance the original colors more. It's kind of hard to take a good picture of lights shining at you.

Here's my black light LED mod:

Rich at thisoldgame.com (rikitiki) pointed out awhile back that the NOS SpyHunter cpos were black light reactive. So my buddy and I made this.

A 4 mini black light LED custom sleeve made of wood and painted and textured to match the original plastic sleeve. It's wired through the yoke/controller and hooked to the switcher inside.

I would absolutely take one of the LED mods.

Those lamps do get hot, and I recently picked up a perfect piece of glass to replace the flaking one.

You should think about doing the LED mods for Space Invaders. Those lamps get hot and crack the paint on the SI bezels as well.

- LED black light yoke sleeve

My pipes are in good shape, but for $10-15 it would be nice to have a set for backup and those look pretty damn close to OEM.
