Got one destroyed Gate of Doom PCB for a fair price. 55 Custom chip on the corner was hit by some heavy object and was hanging in few soldering points,
Of course, many traces were ripped off, it was quite extensive damage. Furthermore, both RAM chips on the corner of the PCB were cracked, at on point the board was
flexing a lot in that area. Fixing 55 area should be the most critical point in restoration of this board. Question is: To scrap, or not to scrap it?
Decided to give it few hours for traces and pads repair and see how`s going on. No, i do not use wires or Kynar patches, especially for QFP custom chips.
It was going pretty well, after only one hour i managed to fix almost all traces and pads in pin 80 area.
Traces and pads were coming from a donor PCB.
Work in progress.
I saw some videos on Youtube about replacing traces. Of course, the width is 5 times the size of the normal trace and easy to approach. Looks more like a commercial video.
This is the real stuff, with slight misalignment and -not perfect soldering. Because this is not a commercial and it`s not feeding my Ego. Just sharing experience.
