Just saw an advertisement on the History channel for next Monday's show. They mentioned coin-ops so that got my attention. Then they mentioned Minnesota and I looked up from my computer....

Sure looked like Gary Southward and his brother haggling with the Picker twosome.

For those of you who don't know who the hell Gary is, well, to say he has a SHITLOAD of old games would be an understatement. Last time I bought something from him I spent half a day just looking at the stuff he had in two buildings. This didn't include the 19 semi-trailers he has full of games as well as numerous other garages scattered around a 25 mile radius.

Should be an interesting show. I can't imagine he made too many sweet deals for the pickers; at least on anything worthwhile. Guess we'll have to wait and see....

The picker boys were mechanical game in the preview. The Op said it was worth $20,000. Sounds like typical Op talk. There all worth $$$$$. Or I can't sell it, it's my wife's favorite.... I guess that's why they call it the "Amusement industry" LOL
The reality show is fun to watch though.

I loved the dog warning. He won't bite as long as you don't try to pet him or look him in the eye. Oh yeah, and don't let him sneak up behind you, he likes to nip ya from behind too. Always love a relaxed buying experience.

That's cool to hear. When I was up at his brother's place in Wyoming, MN last year we talked about American Pickers. Gary and his bro had been trying to get them interested for about a year. I actually sent several emails and a letter myself.

I have to find that and get a copy of it.

FYI ... your beloved Sky Diver came out of one of Gary's trailers... he still has custody of the Speed Shift I fell in love with... FunSpot in Weirs Beach, NH even has 2 games I pulled out of Gary's trailer stash!

That's awesome! Hell, I missed the new Episode, I believe they have re-runs at some point during the week.....

Those guys had high prices for everything. When they finally sold two pieces they were later appraised for less than the purchase price. Yeah I know the appraisals are usually BS on these shows but in this case it seemed pretty much on the mark.

I caught the show last night. I was laughing my a$$ off when Frank paind $600 each for those peek a boo machines. I was actually surprised that they appraised for $500 each. I'd have gone about $250-$300. They may be fairly rare, but not much replay value. ;)

I never overpaid Gary for a thing so I must be smarter than the American Pickers!!!!

It was funny that the appraiser was Marvin from Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum outside of Detroit. http://www.marvin3m.com/. They made it look like he just swung by their shop in Iowa on his way home from the store or something.

Just saw a rerun of this last night..... I remember I wanted a Taito coin door. Gary had a Stratovox, perfect coin door, no monitor, water damage, no power supply, no cp, only 300. I passed.
Gary's stuff is fun to walk through, but the easy trick with Gary was always. He knows what he wants to sell, it's always out on display. Ignore what he wants to sell, look at junk and pretend you are interested. He'll throw huge prices out, then just say, "OK, I'm leaving" As you walk out the door, the deals start flowing.
I was watching with my wife and was withing about 10% on every price Gary gave, hahaha.
However, his collection of trailers in MN, and I've been through all of them, still have some amazing gems hidden.
