Garcade or Loftcade?

I must say, I started off many years in a garcade with a smaller house. I will never knock someone for doing that. During that time I helped a buddy move which included "fishing" 15 arcade games out of a basement with NO walkout. Uggggg. I told him he has to hire movers next time. When my wife and I finally went house hunting though, a walk out basement was a must. I know some states don't have basements, but hey it makes a catchy website name don't you think?

I won't be one to sign up helping you move that 4 slot up a windy group of stairs.
My stuff is in the garage just because it's the only place i can fit them and keep sanity in the house. Also I move stuff so often and am working on them often enough that I need to keep them in the garage.

The loft sounds cool, but I would actually lean towards the garage if you can make it a nice space. Few reasons:
- you live in California, so you can
- you can easily sneak in girls/people, booz and whatever else your heart desires, but most importantly- more games
- you can easily sneak out of your house to do things mentioned in the previous bullet
- you will always need someone to help you move a game in and out with the loft. I have a basement gameroom and it is a bitch. With a revolving 25+ games, I am running out of friends that are willing to come over
- you can fit any size game in your garcade. I have 4 games in my garage that will never make the turn to get down to my gameroom- saving those for the next house.
- you can easily move more games in and out under the cover of darkness and family sleeping
- you can move more games in and out by yourself...sorry I guess I already said that

Again, these all depend on whether you can make the garcade a nice space that you would want to spend extended amounts of time in. And then maybe revolve a game or two in and out of the loft.

Does anyone have pics of Brett's old loft? That was the greatest game space, ever.

List of reasons to do a garcade.

Dude, now you got me thinking again. I'm stupid to forget that the loftcade would basically be right outside every bedroom door which means no late night gaming or get togethers unless I turned the sound all the way down and kept voices at a whisper which would be impossible and lame. For a second, I thought my loftcade would be sound proof. A garcade is starting to sound more logical.

Thread is open again. :D

I vote for BOTHCADE....

... the games that you KNOW you love and won't be trading out... and games you know are reliable up in the loft... and the rest in the garage...

I'd love to have an amazing basementcade like yours Jeremy. I think most guys would. Ridiculously awesome. Ideally, I would love a guest house dedicated as my game room as I've seen some guys do. Or even a large bonus room. Unfortunately, this isn't a hunt, it's more of a relocation.

We'll see what happens when the time comes. Who knows, maybe by then, I can convince my wife to let me use the large family room near the front entrance. :D

i had a two car garage with some games in it. VA weather is terrible, gets pretty damn cold in the winter and humid in the summer so not a lot of good days to play games out there.

I decided to finish the garage especially since I never parked my car in it anyway. It is a million times better. My only problem is now I don't really have a lot of work type space, but I put in really durable tile so I can be pretty rough on the flooring and it holds up fine. So I would vote for the loft or finish the garage.

If you have a really nice garage door and can keep out bugs and whatnot and you can heat/cool the garage I guess it could work though, just depends what you want to put up with.
