My dogs are actually the bigger pain in the ass than the cats. The cats eat, shit/piss where they are supposed to and sleep. The dogs are super needy and require a shit load of baby sitting. They really can come off as retarded when standing next to a cat. The main plus of the dog is that they have scared off their fair share of wanna-be burglars.

As for the OP, I'd think about "WTF?!?"'ing the owners. They let their pet piss all over one of your valuables. If they're responsible pet owners, they'll at least try to do something to make sure it doesn't happen again. If they're not...well...at least you know who the neighborhood assholes are.

You can train them and squirt them in the face when they are messing up like that. Does not take long for them to learn not to do something... And really, if they step in their crap, its time to clean the litter box. Plus the cat does not want crap on it and will clean that area on their body.

It's true. They're generally clean, and they will only be messy if their litter box is messy, so change the litter often! My dogs have been much worse in the house...barfing, 'hershey squirts', pooping on the carpet, going into the litter box and eating cat poop, putting their noses up on counters and trying to get food, etc. These are trained dogs, mind you...but they're mischievous as hell. Never needed to train the cat, other than to show him where the poop box was.
