Is there any kind of multi-kit for Gaplus at all? I know you could put a jamma adapter and a multiboard. But is there anything out there that's just an add-on for Gaplus directly?

Failing that, what's the best dirt-cheap multiboard these days? I've been out of it for a long time.....

hey look who's back! So did you grab the $50 obo gaplus? As far as multi boards I don't think a lot has changed. The 60 in 1 is one of the more cost effective multi's. Not sure if the 49 in 1's are still available or not but they may be.

Galaga plugs right in. Or at least it works that way the other way around. I have Galaga3 in my Galaga Cab. And Galaga 3 is essentially Gaplus. Only thing is Galaga won't use the up and down that gaplus has.

I don't know, but I have a hunch that I know why you're asking about it. Haha.

I'm not familiar with add-ons. I would think getting the multi-board and jamma adapter would be the best and easiest route.

Kingsley is local and I've heard good things about his customer service.

I'm not sure if these prices are right. Probably best to just contact him. He's on KLOV but I forget his username. Maybe he'll chime in to this thread.

$25 actually. :) How much are the 60 in ones these days? Where's the best place to get 'em? And is Gaplus any fun at all just on its own? If there was a multi-Galaga board of some sort that would be cool but I have no idea what the hardware issues are with that and I've never heard of one.

you jehuie-ish bastard, I can't believe you didn't get them down to $10.

Oh, and on a serious note, I have often thought of you, and wondered if you were ok.
glad to see you back

I asked about it awhile back, and Mark Spaeth (whatever happened to him, permaban?) said if you can find a Namco Super Pac PCB, it'll plug right in. The Midway PCB has pins/connectors instead of an edge connector like Gaplus has (mine actually has a "Super Pac" filter board on it). If you like the 60-in-1, those Gaplus cab adapters are really easy to install. I had mine going with a 48-in-1 in less than 5 minutes. I just unplugged the stuff from the Gaplus board, and routed them to the coin box side and mounted the 48-in-1 on that side. You will need to rig up some sort of 2nd button though, if you want to configure anything. All I did was run a wire to the 2nd button on the cab JAMMA adapter and touched it to the button ground while I was configuring the 48-in-1. I didn't want to hack my panel with a 2nd button. I may eventually wire it up to player 2 start button though.

I've always wondered why no one ever made any repro stuff for gaplus/galaga 3. I love the artwork on the side and thats the main reason I kept the game as is!

The Gaplus marquee is sweet too. Much more colorful than the rather plain looking "GALAGA 3" marquee that replaced it.

Heh, it's funny that you say that. I seriously considered offering the lady $50 for all 3 games. The only thing that stopped me was that I was afraid she would say yes. So yeah, I ended up just giving her $25 for the one game. She was a very nice lady and easy to deal with. They belonged to her kids (he moved out years ago) and she just wants them out of the garage. I left the other two games there though. The Ataxx game was in nice condition. But then, it's Ataxxx......so there ya go. And the other one was pretty rough. Maybe I'll post good pics of the Gaplus later. The artwork is nice and clean overall with one place that's boogered up.

Oh, and things are going ok. Not really planning on jumping back into the arcade thing just yet. Although I'll be fixing this thing up somehow and I'm building a Mame cab for a friend. Thanks for the well wishes.

John

Well, I fired it up and it plays blind. No monitor neck glow at all. G07. It's almost always the monitor these days. It used to almost always be the power supply.

If you like Galaga and have any skill at all with galaga, Gaplus is simply Galaga on Crack. Its hella hard and super challenging. Its one of the favorites in my collection, the only differences is mine is a Galaga III which is pretty much just a title change from Gaplus since no one could figure out that it was Galaga's sequel. Where galaga has one special weapon(the dual shot), Gaplus has at least 5. I would fix the monitor and enjoy. Forget the multi board. Even if the multi-board has Galaga 3 on it, it most likely won't be the same. But hey, that's just my 2 bits.

Plus: G07 monitors should be only about 35 bucks to rebuild with a new cap kit, flyback, and hot.

I had a cap kit handy and went ahead and capped it last night. The problem was with R908 but a new one is in the cap kit. So it's all working good as new now. I've only played it a couple times and it's fun. Still need to decide if I want to throw a multi-board in there or not. It sure is nice when it turns out to be an easy fix. Almost makes me want to start working on these things again....

I can feel your anger flowing through you...give into your hatred...strike those games down with all of your anger...then your transformation will be complete.

Seriously, just give into the urge to work on/play games. It's what you love to do right? Haha.
