I figured if he needed help DL'ing the HQ version, we could do that later...

Thanks guys! Neither are perfect, but I think I can clean the second one up with a clone tool and posterize filter. The resolution could be higher since it will be printed so large. But a million times better than what I have! :D

You still want me to scan mine now that you have these?

If you can do a cleaner and higher resolution scan please still do! There is no repo of this marquee and they are hard to come by.

Cleaned up Marquee Scan

I cleaned it up and redid the stripes, text and a few other things. Here is a preview, don't use this image:

Use this PNG version instead.

EDIT: USE THIS PDF (compressed as a 7zip self extracting archive) instead fo the PNG above.

Take a look and let me know if I should change anything.

I need to figure out how I am going to print this. I was thinking printing it on white overhead projector plastic, but I don't know if they make it big enough, and where I would find a place with a printer that could do it. Fedex Kinkos?

Here is what I am talking about:

Nice work, dude. I was a bit concerned as the photos I took of mine didn't turn out very well, and I don't have a scanner. Was trying to figure out what to do, heh.

Edit: Not sure if you did it on purpose or not, but I noticed the artist's name is missing from the bottom.

Thanks! I pretty much rebuilt much of the file. Forgot to put the original artist signature back in, but I changed it so much I don't think he would want it on there anyway.

I appreciate all you have done!

Looks good!

Bear in mind that you are looking at an RGB version of it on your monitor. I strongly suggest you do one of two things:

1. Send a test swatch to kinkos or wherever they do large format (Ridgeways, BPI in NYC)

2. Change the colorspace to CMYK and shoot out a test print on some nice photopaper on your home inkjet.

Those rich blues are going to print muddy purple on an inkjet.

Thanks, I will do a test printing it first and doing whatever color corrections are needed!

Can someone tell me what software is typically used to accomplish all this?

(At this point, all I have are some drawings and a small scanner).

Thanks.

The couple marquees I've been trying to scan I'm just doing in pieces on a flatbed and then stitching the files together in GIMP to make one full size scan of the parts that were most flat when I scanned them. Wouldn't necessarily work on glass marquees though or screened plexi unless you removed the bezel around the bed of the scanner.

Like TK_Monkey I use GIMP, but I also use Paint Shop Pro. Many people perfer Photoshop, but GIMP and Paint Shop Pro can do most of the same stuff, and some cases more.

I use Linux at home with GIMP, but I run Windows XP in a virtual machine to run Paint Shop Pro.
