Looks like you can just plug it in

It will just be missing up and down. I have to think of a way to add up and down without hacking the panel, the 2-way has a tiny bit of up and down slack, maybe I can put 2 really sensitive switches on the top and bottom that will pick up that minute movement. Or maybe a foot pedal. Ahh, it sounds like a bad idea.

is there a different panel that fits a galaga cab that uses a 4 way stick? If so you could buy one and put the proper overlay on it to match the cab. This would keep the original look but allow 4 way play.

Yah I could do that, but Galaga wants to be played with a 2 way. Really, I want to keep it as Galaga most of the time. If I ever get a Dig Dug, I Gaplus could share that cabinet with no modifications.

In all seriousness, it's going to be pretty much impossible to play gaplus with a 2-way stick. Unless you make some mods to your Galaga, you'd probably need to put it in a different cabinet : /

It would be nice, but I think it is playable with just left and right. Harder too.

I found a badly beat up galaga panel and used a green lee punch to put a hole where the joystick slot used to be. I'm going to put a 4 way wico leaf switch in, slap a galaga cpo on it and use the switcher setup from Mike's arcade to swap between the games. If I don't like the game play on galaga with the unrestricted 4 way, I can always put my original panel back on.

I've got a similar setup in my phoenix/pleiades cabinet, works like a charm, but of course the layout is identical.

Good luck.

Yeah, cause Gaplus isn't hard enough already  :D

:D

A Ms Pac cp will fit a Galaga.

Do I need to draw the rest of the map for you?

No I know I could do that, I just don't know if I want to go to the bother of doing it.

I didn't know that Mike's had a switcher for a Galaga setup? Or are you using a JAMMA switcher with JAMMA adapters?

It'll still be quite a bit harder with a Ms Pac stick, but definitely easier than a Galaga one. You really need to be able to go 8-ways in order to maneuver around the bugs and their bullets.

At LEAST forward and back. There are plenty of times when the enemies come from directly sideways, and you'd have no way to kill them or get out of the way.

Ahhh, there's the rub. I said, "a Ms. Pac cp will fit". Didn't say anything about using a Ms. Pac joystick.

Doesn't work out so well

Well the game works fine, but I die on the first backwards level, I believe it is Parsec 4. Yes they come at you sideways:

I go to all the trouble of finding a Gaplus board for you, and then you tease me with your Galaga? You sir, have besmirched my dignity for the last time. :p
