Gaming on my Motorola Droid X with a Wiimote via bluetooth

I hope I'm not the only one that is anti-pay for emulators...I believe in supporting developers for their work, but I think that paying for something that essentially promotes piracy and that can readily be had for free on other platforms is sort of...iffy. At least he offers free versions of most of his emus. I definitely wouldn't pay for a non-fully-functional emu.

I agree, which is why I'm not buying it. I think I use the free one for all of them except the NES one. For his emus, you're basically paying for the save states and cheat functions. Which I like to use for nearly impossible games like Ninja Gaiden.

And when I think about the games I actually play, I own them. Sure, I play the occasional game I don't own to try it out, but that's usually not the case. Off the top of my head, the games I've been playing on my PSP are Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and Zelda Minish Cap. I own all three. I still buy console games as well. I'm a collector for one thing and I like having the original products. Even when I had a DS and an R4, I still have all my DS games that I bought and played.

I admit, I'm guilty of it with MAME when I want to play games that I don't want to pay $150-400 for the original boards/kits (Ex. SFIII:3S. I own the console versions, but I'm guessing that doesn't count). Is there such thing as being semi-anti-piracy? :D

There have been piracy threads before and I hope this doesn't turn into one. LOL.

IRONY: I pirated the pay version of those emulators :p

LOL. It's a lost cause in the end. As cool as it is, you've helped me realize, it's not practical at all on the Droid with a Wiimote. Sure, it's cool and a nice feature to have, but now that I have a PSP Go and soon to have a 3DS, I won't be gaming on my phone.

EDIT: Okay, I bit and found the apk file for N64oid online. Testing Mario 64 right now. It actually runs really well. Pretty much full speed and very clear, no glitches or anything (so far). Very nice. But again, since I won't be playing games on my phone, I can't justify paying $5.99 for this and it would just take up space on my phone.

Sorry if I ruined the fun a little :p It is a nice feature to have, but as you said, it's just not practical in most situations. It's sort of like glovepie for PC - it's cool to be able to use a wiimote on your PC and even add motion controls to some games, but when it really comes down to it...unless you have a big ass PC monitor or can link your PC to your TV - then what's the point?

Can you try Mario Kart 64? That's about all I'd care about :p

It doesn't run as well as Mario 64, but is playable. There is a slight lag in audio. I've found out that the larger the game, the less likely it will run well. Mario 64 is like 5MB. Mario Kart is like 9MB. Smash Bros. is 19MB. You get the picture. Again, it's cool, but I'd rather play the real thing at full speed.

Did the PSP ever get a good N64 emu? Shortly before I dropped out of that, there was one or two, but they weren't very far along yet.

Yeah, it's called Daedalus and there have been several updates and variations since you dropped out, but to be honest, it still doesn't run at full speed for most games. To me, that means unplayable. It must be hard to port it to PSP hardware because you would think it could run it just fine. But I'm no homebrew/programming expert.

The only thing close to getting great N64 on-the-go is Mario 64 DS and OoT 3DS. Unless they make N64 games downloadable on 3DS but from the looks of it, that probably won't happen. :)

Man, I'd kill for an portable online capable version of Kart 64.

Just to revisit this, recently I became an Android user (kicking and screaming the whole way..lol..) I installed the following emu's:
Ataroid, Nesoid, Snesoid, GBCoid, Gensoid, Gameboid, Mame4droid, and SuperGnes lite.
I have to say I am very impressed with these emulators running on my Galaxy s2 with the wiimote and wiimote control app, Didn't figure they would run much better than the Apple capable ones I had running on my 3GS.
My Ipad 2 runs them all quite well but having these on a phone sized device for some discreet gaming in the office has worked well, I leave the wiimote in my desk at work and it provides me with tons fun on breaks and also the general unproductive times. :)
