.... Or better ones than they got. The Venture thread got me thinking about this, it's a great game and could really have used a follow up with more levels and stuff in them!

My other titles:

- Frenzy / Yeah I know that's a sequel in itself, but I think it's a ton better than the original. I would have LOOOOOOVED it if they had made a sequel with the same gameplay and even the same graphics, but just a larger variety of robots and boses.

- Defender & Stargate / Strike Force was a pretty lame sequel and they totally screwed up the controls from the original

- Spy Hunter / Sequels don't get much worse than Spy Hunter 2

- Tempest / Other than ROM hacks and PC/game console based sequels, I don't think there has ever been one, especially in true vector.

- Major Havoc / same as Tempest

- Marble Madness / Even if Marble Man had been released I haven't heard much good about it, especially its joystick controls

- Time Pilot / Time Pilot '84 wasn't horrible but it didn't have a lot too it either, it was basically the same level over and over again, and the one boss sucked

- Space Ace / Given how popular it was I'm surprised there wasn't a sequel

x100. Even just a new set of mazes and 1 new enemy would have done the trick. If ever there was a calling for a romhack, it's this game. Give us some new levels to master!

My bid: ELEVATOR ACTION 2.
Grenades? Hand-to-hand combat? Bring it.

MACH 3 - I would have liked to have seen more missions, maybe other vehicles using the same type of gameplay, sprites over laser background.

COBRA COMMAND (laser version) - animation was awesome and the story could continue after blowing up the boss' base. New locations, newer weapons, vehicles.

BADLANDS (laser version) - the story continues.. he kills off those who killed his family, moves on to new town, makes new enemies, meets new girl, girl gets kidnapped. This time, the game could have an actual joystick and button configuration instead of the lame ass one button as all the controls.

TOOBIN' - such a fun game in multiplayer, you could build on the crazy water obstacles, huge rapids , waterfalls

PAPERBOY - more obstacles, upgrading bicycle options (using classic bmx items), compete against other paper boys to steal their customers. Either could be done multiplayer or just play against computer.

720 - same concept....play against other skaters and have to avoid all the obstacles, time limits, etc.

DK3 should have had a sequel. It could have been called:

Stanley's Steamer

It then would go down in the anals of history as yet another arcade game falling into copyright violations. Sort of.... but hey I got to use the term anal.

I always felt Star Wars deserved a better arcade game. There was so much potential for a movie accurate x-wing or millenium falcon cockpit with a "rogue sqaudron" or perhaps "tie-fighter" style gameplay. None of that on rails shit.

Tron - should have had Tron Legacy as an Arcade game.
T2 - come on the more gun games the better
ROTJ - as a vector add-on to the other games

Robotron = Smash TV = Total Carnage (the series)
Some games are better off as one hit wonders.

Primal Rage should have got a sequel it was made never released like Marble madness.

Would have loved to see another Centipede after the Millipede sequel something newer. Same thing with Asteroids after asteroids deluxe. How awesome would it have been to have an asteroids type game in a Sega 360 style setup.:D

Altered Beast (Sega could had done wonders with this game!)
Arm Wrestling (Can you imagine over 5 scenes to arm wrestle!)
ESWAT (Arcade, not Genesis)
Final Fight (Arcade, not the SNES)
Golden Axe (Arcade, not Genesis)
Shinobi (Arcade, not Genesis)

Golden Axe (Arcade, not Genesis)

My understanding is Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder is Golden Axe 2. Hence, "Revenge" of Death Adder. It's also one of the greatest 4P dungeon crawlers ever made along with D&D:SOM. The sweet dedicated cabinet is nice too.

I would have loved to see a sequel to X-Men that had improved level design, characters, etc. Sort of like how Turtles in Time was a great improvement to the first game.

Arcade74, I love your suggestions, we think alike. Shinobi had the un-official sequel called Shadow Dancer which is a highly elusive system-18 pcb that I have been yearning to own. (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9499) The genesis version is a totally different game but equally brilliant, I converted it to JAMMA just to play it in the arcade lol. Golden Axe had a sequal in 92 as well that was on system 24 that was not so great. (http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7968) Final Fight was too ingenious to have a sequal. And if it did, it could not possibly encapsulate that pure 80s genre half as well, that game is just too good to build a sequal.

Ok for me, I will probably be the only one in the world to say this, but when I found out Magician Lord 2 on Neo-Geo got canned in mid production, I was unbelievably pissed off. I want to see the most die hard, most unfair, cheap and difficult side scroller platformer to see a sequal. The controls on this game are brilliant. If you dont like it, its probably because you cant handle it. Its really hard to find a side scroller of this magnitute, its almost like a genre in itself like the bullet hell shooters (side scroller hell). I still believe this is one of the very very best Neo Geo titles to date.

Good call on Magician Lord!

My choice would be a pseudo sequel to an Atari game. Being a BIG fan of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - both movie and game. I was chomping at the bit when 'Last Crusade' was released. Yes, another Indiana Jones game BUT wait, nothing! What happened Atari?
